About iWireless

iWireless was a mobile network operator in the United States, operating under the name Iowa Wireless Services LLC. Founded in 1997, it was headquartered in Urbandale, Iowa, and was not related to Kroger’s service with a similar name. The company began as a partnership between T-Mobile US and Iowa Network Services. It held licenses for GSM cellular networks using the PCS-1900 and AWS-1700 bands, covering Iowa, southwestern Wisconsin, and northwestern Illinois. iWireless had more than 250 full-service company stores and authorized dealers across Iowa, western Illinois, and eastern Nebraska. T-Mobile acquired the company in full. On October 1, 2018, iWireless service shut down, and customers were encouraged to move to T-Mobile plans. It is listed as a virtual carrier and its owner as T-Mobile US, but the historical service itself is no longer operating. Its official site is listed as iwireless.com.

Verdict

iWireless is a historical carrier entry rather than a current service option. It operated across parts of the Midwest before T-Mobile acquired it and closed the service.
