What wiki.gg is
wiki.gg is a free web service for hosting collaboratively edited encyclopedic resources. It accepts wikis on gaming, entertainment, open-source, hobby, and other general-interest subjects, and reports hosting over 800 wikis. Wikis use MediaWiki, with VisualEditor installed by default for new projects. Administrators can request extensions, although some are unavailable because of maintenance, compatibility, code-quality, or stability concerns. LIBRARIAN, its fork of Cargo, can store and query template data when requested and approved. Wiki-Bot can link wiki pages in Discord, display recent changes, and help track edits; a public Discord server offers a place for editor support and platform guidance. Applications are reviewed case by case, with replies typically taking about 5–7 business days. Hosting is free and supported by advertisements. Wikis use wiki.gg subdomains rather than custom domains, though URL redirects are allowed. Most wikis require editor accounts, which can help track, undo, and block malicious edits. The platform’s policy disallows original AI-generated content but permits AI assistance for text, diagrams, and tested code.
