The record

Purpose: We is a private photo sharing app for families and close friends to share memories without social media.
Albums and events: Albums let owners control who can view and contribute, while invited event guests can add their photos and videos.
Smart Albums: On-device AI reads photo dates and locations to suggest albums grouped by place and event, and nothing is uploaded while suggestions are being reviewed.
Memory features: The app includes a map of albums and On This Day throwbacks presented with music.
Access controls: Only people invited and approved by the owner can access albums and events, and owners can control permissions such as downloading, sharing and commenting.
Screenshot protection: The app can block screenshots and screen recordings of private content.
AI and moderation: Uploaded photos may be analyzed on We’s infrastructure and through Cloudflare Workers AI for labels and safety moderation, while Anthropic is used to generate album titles without receiving the photos for that step.
Security: We says it uses HTTPS encrypted connections and access controls to protect information.
Payments: Apple App Store or Google Play processes purchases, and We says it does not receive or store credit card or payment details.
Support: The site says users can start a chat at any time and a human replies.
Storage limit: If usage exceeds the plan’s storage limit, uploading may stop until space is freed or the plan is upgraded.
Intended users: The service is intended for adults aged 18 or older to keep and share family memories.
Platform availability: The maker’s site links to App Store and Google Play downloads and identifies We as available on iOS and Android.
Headquarters: Crewe, United Kingdom
