What Soundation is

Soundation is a web-based music studio for recording, editing, and producing music in a browser. Its audio and MIDI tools support recording and editing, automation, time and pitch stretching, and real-time collaboration. Collaborators can work in the same project with changes syncing in real time, while project updates are saved automatically to the cloud. The studio includes more than 20,000 royalty-free audio samples, MIDI loops, and virtual instrument presets, plus 12 software instruments such as drum machines, synthesizers, and sampled instruments.

Gennie generates 12-second musical samples from text prompts. Its monthly credits vary by paid plan, and its samples use a CC BY-NC 4.0 license, which excludes commercial use and monetization. Soundation runs in a browser, and projects can be reached on any computer without downloading software. Free users can export MP3 files; high-quality MP3 or WAV export requires a Starter, Creator, or Pro account. Soundation offers a free plan and Soundation Education for $360 a year per teacher, with students using it free. Education supports importing classes from Google Classroom.
