The record

Purpose: Scientific WorkPlace combines scientific word processing and mathematics in one environment for creating technical documents.
Typesetting: It acts as a front end to LaTeX so users can create technical documents without learning LaTeX syntax.
Computer algebra: The embedded MuPAD 5 engine supports symbolic and numerical computation, integration, differentiation, equation solving, and plotting.
Document formats: Version 6 saves documents as XML and can import and export LaTeX files and represent mathematics as MathML in XML and XHTML.
Sharing: The program bundles a document and related files into a single .sci file for sharing.
Publishing features: It includes journal and institutional document shells and can generate footnotes, indexes, bibliographies, tables of contents, and cross references when typesetting.
Other features: Version 6 includes realtime spell checking with MySpell dictionaries in over 40 languages and unlimited undo within the current editing session.
Integrations: The product includes LaTeX and AMS macros and uses MuPAD 5 as its embedded computer algebra system.
Supported systems: The maker offers Version 6.1 for Windows and Version 6.0.30 for Mac; its page says Mac support does not extend beyond macOS 10.15 Catalina.
Trial: A 30-day trial requires obtaining a serial number by email, and the maker says the program remains a non-functioning Viewer if it is not registered or activated.
Support: The maker says commercial and educational systems bought directly or through approved resellers include technical support, with a guaranteed 24-hour turnaround; student systems are excluded.
Security and compliance: The maker's product and trust pages opened here do not state security certifications or compliance standards.
Intended users: The maker describes Scientific WorkPlace as software for academic and commercial researchers producing scientific papers.
