The record

Product: SchildiChat is a family of instant messengers based on the Matrix protocol.
Project purpose: The maker describes SchildiChat as a hobby project whose goal is to create a chat client its developers enjoy using, rather than to make money.
Android Next: SchildiChat Next is a Matrix client based on Element X Android with additional extras and tweaks.
Revenge: SchildiChat Revenge is a Matrix client first created for desktop and now also available on Android; the maker says it is in beta and may lack features.
Legacy status: The maker lists SchildiChat Legacy for Android, SchildiChat Desktop, and SchildiChat Web as no longer actively maintained.
Web limitation: The legacy web client lacks support for authenticated media, so some images such as avatars may be missing.
Push notifications: SchildiChat Next can use UnifiedPush and should detect a configured push distributor automatically; the FAQ says custom gateways on non-standard ports are currently broken.
Notification service: The FAQ points users who want ntfy without hosting their own server to ntfy.schildi.chat.
Room discovery limit: The FAQ says finding and joining public rooms is not implemented in Element X and will not be added to SchildiChat Next before Element X adds it.
Account limit: The FAQ says multiple accounts are not supported in SchildiChat Legacy for Android; it suggests installing separate app variants as a workaround.
Support: The maker directs users to Matrix community rooms for contact and to GitHub issues for bug reports and feature requests.
Website privacy: The website privacy notice says it is hosted on Hetzner, access IP addresses and times are technically obtained, and no cookies are set.
Signing verification: The FAQ publishes SHA-256 signing certificate fingerprints that users can use to check SchildiChat Next APKs from the SpiritCroc F-Droid repository.
Desktop Linux note: The FAQ documents Linux-specific desktop behavior, including a Chromium issue that can prevent the app theme from following the system theme.
