Prism

What Prism is
Prism by Aurally Sound analyzes recorded audio and converts pitch, timing, and dynamics into editable MIDI note events. It is intended for solo instrumental recordings and other clearly defined sources, including monophonic and polyphonic material. The software includes a general algorithm plus dedicated algorithms for solo acoustic piano and distorted guitars. Drums are not supported, and isolated audio with one instrument is recommended. Generated notes can be edited in Prism, dragged into a DAW, or saved as MIDI. A MIDI editor, piano playback, and spectrogram view are included. Prism supports VST3, AU, and AAX formats. ARA mode is documented for Pro Tools, Cubase/Nuendo, Studio One, Reaper, Sonar, and Logic Pro on Intel or under Rosetta on Apple Silicon. It can also run as an Insert effect in other DAWs, but audio must first be captured for analysis. Audio files and data stay off the maker’s servers. Prism runs on Windows and macOS. The plan is $79, paid once, with no recurring charges, and a fully featured 21-day trial.

Verdict
Prism focuses on turning suitable recorded instruments into editable MIDI inside a plugin workflow. Its one-time purchase and trial are clear, but unsupported drums and source requirements limit which recordings it can analyze.
