What MusicEase is

MusicEase is desktop music-notation software for creating and editing scores on macOS and Windows. It supports MusicXML and MIDI, tablature, shape notes, percussion, handbell music, and ABC file import. Note entry uses typing in a word-processor-style workflow, while the software automatically positions stems, beams, accidentals, ties, and slurs for later adjustment. Users can create accompaniment styles that are added to songs automatically, with General MIDI instruments and sample styles included. The standard version imports SongWright, ABC, and MusicXML files and saves pieces as MIDI. It supports up to nine lyrics per note and two independent voices per staff. MusicEase Professional raises those limits to 30 verses and four voices per staff, and adds MIDI import, instrumental part extraction, and professional score formatting. Professional also supports hymn and choral preparation for Christian Virtual Hymnal 20K. On Windows, MIDI playback assumes Windows Media Player or Windows Media Player Legacy is installed. The maker offers a free plan; Professional is listed at $249.95 a month.
