MODWAI is a desktop application for monitoring, diagnosing, and optimizing Oracle databases. It supports Oracle Database 19c and later, including RAC clusters and Pluggable Databases, on macOS and Windows. More than 150 built-in monitoring queries cover sessions, locks, storage, memory, and jobs. Query profiling, wait and lock analysis, execution plans, and session recording are included. Session recording samples active sessions at intervals from 0.5 to 10 seconds without requiring Oracle Diagnostic Pack licensing. ASH and AWR analysis requires the relevant Diagnostic Pack license, while Statspack analysis is offered as an alternative. Execution-plan analysis can identify common performance problems and suggest optimizations. AI choices include MODWAI Proxy, keys supplied for OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek, or Gemini, and local Ollama; Ollama processing runs locally. Credentials use Fernet symmetric encryption, and MODWAI says it collects no telemetry. Thin connections need no Oracle Client, while Thick mode uses Oracle Instant Client. Results export to CSV, Excel, clipboard, PNG, JSON, or PDF.
Who it is for
It suits Oracle database teams needing monitoring, diagnostics, SQL analysis, and execution-plan review on macOS or Windows. Teams using ASH or AWR should have the required Oracle licensing.
