What Maxtree is

Maxtree sells 3D plant models and digital vegetation for architectural visualization, VR and AR, games, and cinematic CG projects. Its catalog contains more than 15,000 plant models and ecosystem assets, including trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses. Assets include high-resolution PBR maps for Albedo, Glossiness, Normal, Opacity and Translucency. The Help page lists compatibility with 3ds Max 2020+, Blender 3.3.1+, Cinema 4D R23+, Maya 2020+, SketchUp, Rhino, Revit, Unreal Engine 5.3.2+ and Twinmotion 2024.1+. Available formats include FBX, Mesh and GrowFX + Mesh; GrowFX original files can be opened only in 3ds Max. Maxtree provides a free collection for testing, and those assets may be used commercially but cannot be resold. The company says paid products are one-time purchases and additions of supported software and rendering formats are provided free. A listed example, Plant Models Vol 196, costs $1,251,770, paid once and includes high-poly models with multiple variants. Maxtree does not recommend its current products for game production because they are not made to game specifications and their textures are not optimized.
