MailZyro

What MailZyro is

MailZyro is an email service with a web inbox and end-to-end encryption for messages between its users. The browser encrypts those messages with OpenPGP before they reach the server, which stores ciphertext. MailZyro says it encrypts incoming mail from external senders on receipt, though plaintext is briefly present in server memory during that process. Inbox tools include folders, labels, templates, tabs, snooze, undo send, and filters; the free plan has no filters. Search runs locally in the browser using an encrypted index that syncs. Optional AI can compose or reply to messages, adjust tone, summarize threads, suggest subjects, and check grammar; encrypted PGP messages are not sent to the AI provider. Outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple Mail can connect through Zyro Bridge, which provides SMTP and IMAP locally. The free plan includes one mailbox, 1 GB storage, and one address. Paid plans start at €4.99 a month; custom domains are supported on paid plans. MailZyro retains sender and recipient addresses and timestamps, and external email subjects remain plaintext metadata. Losing both the recovery phrase and password means encrypted mail cannot be recovered. A Gmail or Outlook import wizard is planned but not yet available.

Who it suits

MailZyro may suit people seeking an encrypted email service with inbox tools, local browser search, and desktop email client connections. Consider its recovery requirements and the lack of an import wizard if moving existing mail is important.

Limits

Free provides one mailbox, 1 GB storage, one address, no custom domains, and no filters. Plus costs €4.99 a month and includes 15 GB storage, 10 addresses, one custom domain, and 10 filters.

Getting started

1. Open https://mailzyro.com/mail.
2. Use the web inbox or browser extension.
3. Choose the Free plan for one mailbox, 1 GB storage, and one address, or select a paid plan for more capacity and domains.
4. To connect Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail, use Zyro Bridge for local SMTP and IMAP.
5. Save the 12-word recovery phrase so it can regenerate keys if needed.

Verdict

MailZyro pairs browser-based encryption with inbox tools and client connections. Its metadata practices, recovery limits, and plan allowances are important details to weigh before moving email.
