What Goldbaby is

Goldbaby is a web-based shop for sample packs and sample-based instruments used in music production. Its catalog spans drums, bass, synths, effects, loops, hits, vocal content, drum kits, instrument patches, presets, and projects. Goldbaby offers free sample packs, and downloads are sold per item. Listed formats include 24-bit and 16-bit WAV, Rex loops, Maschine, Geist, Battery, Kontakt, Logic Pro EXS24/Sampler, Ableton Live, Reason, and MicroTonic. Some packs include 16-bit files for hardware samplers at 44.1 or 48 kHz. The site says samples load in software samplers or DAWs, and lists support for Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Maschine, Kontakt, Battery, and Geist. Kontakt patches require the full version of Kontakt; the free player loads them in demo mode. Purchased sounds may be used in commercially released compositions without additional royalties or fees, but the license does not allow redistribution as samples, multisamples, programs, or patches. Use of free or commercial sounds in machine learning or AI processes requires a separate licensing discussion. Goldbaby was founded in 2006 and is based in Auckland, New Zealand.
