Cognito

What Cognito is

Cognito is a web-based revision platform for students studying KS3, GCSE, A-level, IB, and AP. Its learning materials include video lessons, revision notes, quiz questions, flashcards, exam-style questions, and AI marking. Cognito says its catalog includes over 300 courses across 15 subjects and 10 UK and international exam boards. Students can answer questions to check their understanding and create their own quizzes and flashcard decks. Free access is advertised. Cognito Pro costs £9.99 a month, billed monthly, and removes weekly caps on flashcards and exam questions. Schools can obtain licences tailored to school size, with exam-term packages and multi-year discounts available. School-wide licences include full student access, teacher dashboards, and progress tracking; Cognito says schools can send a student list to set up accounts without IT integration or training. Account data, answers, and results are stored in the United Kingdom using AWS in the eu-west-2 London region. For AI marking, Cognito sends the question and answer to Cerebras in the United States without the user’s name, email address, or account ID. Cognito says submitted work is not used to train AI models, and AI marks are practice feedback rather than formal assessment.

Who it suits

Cognito suits students preparing for KS3, GCSE, A-level, IB, or AP exams who want lessons and several types of revision practice in one web platform. Its school licences may suit schools seeking student access, teacher dashboards, and progress tracking.
