What CodeMonkey is

CodeMonkey is a game- and project-based coding curriculum for children and students from kindergarten through grade 8, with courses extending to ages 14 and above. Learners solve puzzles, complete guided challenges and build games or apps at their own pace; most courses do not require prior coding experience. The catalogue covers block coding, CoffeeScript, Python, game creation, digital literacy, data science, artificial intelligence and high school computer science. Game Builder lets students use block-based or text-based code and add sprites, widgets and sounds. Teachers can sign in with Google, import classrooms and students, sync class lists and assign Coding Adventure work, although full Google Classroom Assignments and Stream functions are not supported. CodeMonkey is web based and requires no installation, with desktops, laptops, tablets and iPads listed for several courses. It has paid plans, no free plan and a free trial. Individual costs $11 a month; Family costs $20 a month, both billed every three months.
