Clipmoth

What Clipmoth is

Clipmoth is a video and audio downloader from Clipmoth, a maker based in Tokyo, Japan. It is available as a Chrome extension and a Windows desktop app, and supports downloads from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), Twitch, niconico, Vimeo, SoundCloud, news sites, blogs, and video-on-demand and social embeds. The service lists support for more than 1,000 sites. Files can be saved as MP4, WebM, MP3, M4A, or HLS (.m3u8), and Clipmoth can download playlists and process batch downloads. Its maximum video quality is 8K.

Clipmoth has a free plan and a Premium plan. The free plan provides unlimited downloads for the first 30 days, then allows 10 downloads per rolling day. Premium is priced at $9.99 a month; its billing is described as a one-time payment with no subscription or recurring charge. Premium includes unlimited downloads and 4K or 8K quality on the desktop app. This makes the choice between plans primarily a matter of download volume and the desktop app’s higher listed quality options.

Who it suits

Clipmoth suits people who want to save video or audio from its supported sites, including playlists or batches. The free plan can suit lighter use after its first 30 days, while Premium is aimed at users who need unlimited downloads or 4K/8K quality on the Windows desktop app.
