Castamatic

What Castamatic is

Castamatic is a podcast player for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. It turns downloaded episodes into searchable transcripts and navigable chapters, with Magic Transcript and Magic Chapters processing audio on the device. Transcripts remain available offline after an episode is downloaded. The player includes smart playlists, automatic audio leveling, silence skipping, variable speed, and a sleep timer. It supports M4A, MP3, AAC, and Opus files, live streams, OPML imports, custom RSS subscriptions, and private feeds. Podcasting 2.0 support includes LiveItem, Podping, and Value4Value payments through Lightning using NWC or an LNaddress. Apple integrations include Siri Shortcuts, AirPlay 2, and private iCloud sync alongside CarPlay and Apple Watch support. The maker says the app requires no account and collects no listening data; transcripts and chapters are generated locally without uploads. The core player is free forever, listed as free. The App Store listing says advertising supports the app; a subscription removes ads, supports ongoing development, and unlocks unlimited sideloads.
