What CalendarIT is

CalendarIT is a free, self-hosted calendar that runs in a web browser. You can create events by dragging across the calendar grid, then move or resize them and undo or redo changes. Multiple calendars and recurring events are supported, including RRULE rules and exceptions. Reminders can arrive by email or browser notification, and CalDAV can sync them to phones as calendar alarms. Its built-in CalDAV server provides two-way synchronization with compatible calendar applications. iCalendar (.ics) files can be imported and exported. CalendarIT runs in Docker with PostgreSQL or SQLite, while the operator supplies a reverse proxy for TLS. Invitations and reminders use connected SMTP and IMAP email accounts, with passwords stored encrypted. Accounts use email and password, JWT sessions with rotating refresh tokens, and optional closure of public registration. It is MIT licensed and remains under active development. Task management with due dates and completion is not yet available.

Who it suits

It suits people who want a simple, self-hosted browser calendar with reminders and standards-based synchronization. It also fits operators comfortable deploying Docker, PostgreSQL or SQLite, and a TLS reverse proxy.

Verdict

CalendarIT covers core event planning, reminders, recurring schedules, and CalDAV synchronization while keeping deployment under your control. Its missing task features, lack of mobile apps, and self-hosting requirements matter when choosing it.
