Askrypt

What Askrypt is
Askrypt is a free, open-source password and secret manager for Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS. It opens a vault with answers to personal security questions rather than a master password. Answers are processed with PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256, and stored secrets use AES-256-CBC encryption. Each vault is a portable `.askrypt` ZIP containing JSON metadata and encrypted blobs, allowing movement between devices. Tags, search, hidden entries, and a configurable password generator help organize records. Desktop editions list auto-lock, Smart Lock, and system-tray integration, while mobile editions provide biometric quick-unlock and a secure clipboard that clears automatically. An optional self-hostable server manages accounts and encrypted-vault files through a website and API, but cannot open vaults. It stores opaque encrypted files without receiving questions, answers, or keys. Google sign-in can be enabled through Google OAuth client IDs. Askrypt is under active development, has not had extensive security testing, and advises use at your own risk. System-tray integration does not work on macOS.
