The SJ-20141208170916-001 manual is the ZTE ZXD3000 V5.5 switching-mode rectifier module user manual. It covers the module’s specifications, construction, installation and removal, indicators, adjustment, parallel operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

This is a legacy telecom-power document, not a generic 48 V bench-power-supply guide. Before using it, verify the equipment label, shelf, connector layout, and manual revision. The exact V5.5 document is available through third-party repositories such as Scribd and PDFCoffee; these should be treated as mirrored copies of a ZTE-attributed manual, not confirmed official ZTE-hosted downloads.

Compare the PDF’s revision page with the module nameplate and installation system. Also check the front-panel layout, rear connector arrangement, shelf compatibility, and rated output. ZTE’s official Digital Energy documentation map now lists later ZXD3000 documentation, including V6.0 (R20) and V6.6, so a V5.5 manual should not automatically be applied to a later module. See ZTE’s product-documentation map.

What the ZXD3000 does

The ZXD3000 converts AC input power into regulated DC power for telecommunications equipment such as switches, base stations, and other DC-powered network systems. Its manual specifies a rated output of 53.5 VDC and maximum output power of 3,000 W.

It is designed primarily for installation in a compatible ZTE rectifier shelf or telecom DC-power system. The shelf normally provides mechanical retention, electrical connection, protection, monitoring, and coordination with other rectifier modules.

V5.5 manual specifications

The following values are from the V5.5 manual and are not universal specifications for every ZXD3000 revision.

The broad 75–295 VAC permitted-input figure should not be interpreted as a promise of identical performance across the entire range. The rated input condition is 200–240 VAC. Confirm the nameplate, system documentation, and site power design before energizing a module.

Features and physical construction

The manual describes a DSP-controlled rectifier with CAN-bus communications, adjustable output voltage and current limit, remote monitoring and control, phase detection, soft-start or “walk-in” operation, intelligent fan-speed control, sleep mode below 4 W, and parallel operation.

The front panel includes:

  • Cooling fan and ventilation openings
  • Power, operation, alarm, and fault indicators
  • A QUY query button
  • Captive-screw front-panel wrenches

The rear interface combines AC input, DC output, and signal connections for the intended power-system shelf. A separate cable is normally unnecessary when the module is correctly seated in its compatible shelf. Keep vents unobstructed. The rear connector must not be treated as safe to touch while the system is energized.

Indicator meanings

Indicator What it generally indicates
Power Presence and general status of AC input power
Operation Regulated-voltage operation, current limiting, sleep mode, or a query state, depending on its steady or flashing condition
Alarm Input-voltage, thermal, or related alarm conditions
Fault Conditions such as output overvoltage, output undercurrent, fan failure, or output-fuse failure

A flashing operation indicator does not automatically mean that the module has failed. It can represent sleep mode, current-limit operation, or a one-click query state. Use the indicator state together with the shelf controller’s alarm and fault records; the exact revision-specific table in the manual takes precedence.

Installation and removal

The manual supports online installation in a compatible operating power system, but hot-swapping is a system capability, not permission for unrestricted live electrical work. Only trained, authorized personnel should perform the procedure using the site’s isolation, grounding, PPE, and arc-flash controls.

Installation sequence

  1. Confirm that the selected shelf slot is correct and that the shelf supports the intended module.
  2. Loosen the captive screws on both front-panel wrenches.
  3. Turn the wrenches upward.
  4. Slide the rectifier slowly along the shelf guide rails.
  5. Push it fully into position.
  6. Pull the wrenches downward to secure the module.
  7. Tighten the captive screws clockwise.
  8. Confirm breaker, grounding, monitoring, redundancy, and alarm configuration before placing the module in service.

Removal sequence

  1. Verify that the shelf can lose the module under the present load and redundancy conditions.
  2. Loosen the captive screws.
  3. Raise the front-panel wrenches.
  4. Pull the module out using the handles or wrenches.
  5. Support its approximately 2 kg weight and avoid exposed electrical contacts.
  6. Store, inspect, or replace it according to the authorized service procedure.

Operation and adjustment

Output-voltage and current-limit adjustments are made through the external monitoring system rather than necessarily from the module’s front panel.

  • Output voltage: 41–59.5 V in 0.1 V steps
  • Current limit: 2–63.5 A in 0.5 A steps
  • Current-limit accuracy: no more than 2% of maximum current, according to the manual

The manual’s independent-operation procedure describes a factory-default output of approximately 53.3 V, while the rated output is 53.5 V. These figures should not be silently treated as contradictory: one is a procedure value and the other is the rated specification.

Independent operation: an exceptional use case

The manual says independent operation is generally not recommended and is intended for professional electrical engineers when required. The module can deliver high current at telecom DC voltages, creating substantial fault and arc energy.

If independent operation is unavoidable, the manual calls for correctly rated AC-input and DC-output cables and connectors, proper grounding, ground resistance below 0.1 Ω, and verification that the output voltage is normal before connecting a load. It also warns against unsuitable direct connection to the electrical grid through a Class-A socket.

Do not use this section as a casual wiring guide. Confirm the exact connector pinout, protective devices, polarity, load requirements, and applicable electrical regulations for the specific module.

Parallel operation

The manual describes parallel operation by connecting all positive DC outputs together, connecting all negative DC outputs together, and connecting the CAN bus. Its stated V5.5 pin assignment is:

  • CAN−: pin 16
  • CAN+: pin 17

It specifies a 120-ohm termination resistor between pins 16 and 17 at each end of the CAN bus. Verify these assignments against the actual module, shelf, and revision before wiring; a third-party transcription or a different hardware revision should not be assumed correct.

The manual permits up to 40 ZXD3000 modules in parallel and states that parallel-module restart time increases by 4 × (N − 1) seconds, where N is the rectifier address code. This is a product-specific manual statement, not a general CAN-bus rule. Correct addressing, current sharing, polarity, grounding, termination, and load sequencing remain essential.

Maintenance and troubleshooting

Routine service includes checking seating and installation, AC breakers and supply, indicators and alarm records, fan operation, ventilation, and abnormal system or load conditions. Replace a failed module only with a unit confirmed compatible with the shelf and monitoring system.

Module does not power on

  1. Check the rectifier-shelf breaker.
  2. Confirm AC power at the system and the relevant input.
  3. Check that the module is fully seated and secured.
  4. If permitted by the service procedure, test an approved alternate slot.
  5. If it still fails in a known-good slot, classify the module as suspect and replace it with a known-good compatible unit.

Fault indicator is lit

Check the monitoring system and manual for output overvoltage, output undercurrent, fan failure, output-fuse failure, and abnormal system or load conditions. Do not repeatedly reset a module without identifying the underlying cause.

Operation indicator is flashing

Determine whether the module is in sleep mode, current-limit mode, or query-with-one-click mode. A flashing state is not automatically a failure.

Fan replacement

The manual describes removing the cover and front panel, removing the fan’s four retaining screws, disconnecting its plug, installing the replacement, and reassembling the module. Treat this as an authorized service operation. Internal access can expose hazardous energy and may affect insulation, airflow, or protection if performed incorrectly.

Compatibility and lifecycle warnings

This manual is the right reference when the module label says ZXD3000 V5.5, the document number matches, the shelf and connectors match the illustrations, and the system documentation supports that revision.

It may be insufficient for a V6.x rectifier, an unidentified or modified shelf, a different monitoring unit, a retrofit connector, exact cabinet wiring, live high-current work, or regulatory certification. A generic 48 V or 53.5 V supply is not automatically a drop-in replacement: mechanical fit, protection behavior, monitoring, current sharing, firmware, connector pinout, and system coordination all matter.

ZTE’s official documentation map lists later ZXD3000 versions. ZTE also published a 2019 lifecycle notice covering specified older ZXDU58/68 V4 systems and ZXD3000 V5.1-series spare parts. That notice does not establish identical end-of-service dates for every V5.5 unit, but it is a reason to verify support and replacement availability before designing around this legacy platform.
