There is no single best ZenRows replacement for every scraping job. ScrapingBee, Bright Data, Oxylabs, Zyte, ScraperAPI, and Apify are credible options to evaluate, but they serve different workloads: some are API-first scraping services, while Apify is a hosted platform with reusable Actors. ParseHub and Octoparse are among the no-code options named in a vendor roundup. Choose by testing the sites and data you actually need, then comparing the full cost and operational fit—not by picking a universal benchmark winner.

If your task is only to capture a page visually rather than extract structured data across sites, ScreenshotNeo is a separate tool worth considering. It is a screenshot API, not a general-purpose web scraping API.

Which ZenRows alternatives are worth shortlisting?

The most useful shortlist depends on whether you want a developer API, a managed enterprise service, a workflow platform, or a no-code interface. The descriptions below reflect how the cited vendors and roundups position these products; they do not establish that a service will succeed on your particular target sites.

Option Product type and stated fit What to validate
ScrapingBee Developer-facing API. Oxylabs describes JavaScript rendering, proxy rotation, and structured JSON output; ScraperAPI’s roundup lists it as an option for mid-sized teams. Whether its rendering, output format, and target-site performance match your workflow.
Bright Data Broad scraping and proxy infrastructure. Bright Data describes proxy rotation, rendering, CAPTCHA handling, session management, structured output, and prebuilt scrapers. Which features and proxy or usage model your workload requires, and the resulting effective cost.
Oxylabs Positioned by its own comparison for large-scale extraction and enterprise support, with JavaScript rendering, proxy rotation, parsing features, and trial credits. Target-specific performance, required support level, feature availability, and total price.
Zyte Presented in comparisons as a managed scraping API with proxy handling and structured or AI-assisted extraction capabilities. How it performs on your sites and whether the extraction approach returns the fields you need.
ScraperAPI API alternative listed with JavaScript rendering, proxy rotation, asynchronous and bulk options, and data pipeline features. Success rate and cost for your request volume, retry policy, and target mix.
Apify Hosted platform with reusable Actors, proxy handling, and workflows; a different shape from a single scraping endpoint. Whether an existing Actor or a platform workflow suits your task better than operating an API integration.
Decodo, ParseHub, Octoparse, ScrapingDog, Import.io, and Crawlbase Additional names in ScraperAPI’s alternatives roundup. The set includes products presented as no-code tools as well as scraping services. Current product scope, target compatibility, pricing, and implementation model directly with each provider.

How to choose by workload

Choose an API-first service for an application or pipeline

If your application sends requests and expects pages or structured results back, compare ScrapingBee, Bright Data, Oxylabs, Zyte, and ScraperAPI as API candidates. Do not assume that a vendor’s general feature description means every option is enabled at every tier or works equally well on every site. Confirm the exact rendering, proxy, parsing, concurrency, and delivery options you would use.

Choose a hosted platform when reusable workflows matter

Apify’s Actor and workflow model may fit when you want to use or manage reusable scraping components rather than build around one endpoint. Compare how the workflow handles scheduling, data delivery, retries, and maintenance against the API integration you would otherwise operate. The available evidence identifies its platform model but does not establish that it is cheaper or simpler for every job.

Consider no-code tools when the team does not want to build an integration

ParseHub and Octoparse appear in a broader vendor roundup as no-code options. Treat that as a reason to investigate their current scope, not as a complete feature comparison. Verify whether the interface can handle your target pages, pagination, dynamic content, and required export format before committing.

Use a screenshot API only when an image or PDF is the deliverable

Some tasks need a visual record of a page, not extracted fields, a crawler, or a data pipeline. For that narrower job, ScreenshotNeo provides a GET-based screenshot API and an MCP server for AI agents. It can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF captures and offers options such as full-page capture, element capture, custom CSS or JavaScript, and waiting for page conditions. It does not replace the scraping services above when you need structured records across a site. See ScreenshotNeo’s API documentation for the supported parameters.

Compare target performance, not a universal ranking

Scraping success depends on the target sites, request pattern, configuration, and the benchmark’s definition of success. A published result is useful context only when its conditions resemble your workload. Do not combine percentages from different tests into one league table.

  • ZenRows reports that its own live benchmark on June 19, 2026 tested ZenRows, Scrapfly, Zyte, and ScraperAPI on Zim, Glassdoor, Idealista, and Indeed, with 100 requests per target at two requests per second. It reports a 99.00% success rate, 9.1-second average response time, and $6.85 effective cost per 1,000 requests for ZenRows under those conditions. These are vendor-produced results, not a universal comparison. See ZenRows’ benchmark article.
  • Bright Data’s comparison describes a Scrape.do benchmark of 11 providers across seven challenging domains and reports a 98.44% average success rate for Bright Data. The year is not clearly attached to that result in the comparison, so it should not be treated as a 2026 result. See Bright Data’s account.
  • The same Bright Data article attributes a 93.14% Zyte success rate to Proxyway’s 2025 Web Scraping API Report, described as covering 15 heavily protected sites. That is a different test from the ZenRows and Scrape.do results.

ZenRows also published a comparison updated October 16, 2025, but dated starting-price examples should not be mistaken for current quotes. See that comparison alongside the newer benchmark article.

Build a fair shortlist test

A small evaluation on representative URLs is more useful than a broad claim about which provider is “best.” Run candidates under comparable conditions and record the result for each target rather than treating all pages as one success rate.

  1. Select representative pages. Include the page types, regions, dynamic behavior, and data fields that matter in production. Avoid basing a decision on one easy page.
  2. Define success before testing. Specify whether a request counts as successful only when it loads, when required fields are present, or when the output passes validation. Keep that definition the same for every provider.
  3. Match the intended configuration. Use the rendering, proxy or geography settings, concurrency, and output mode you expect to deploy. Record settings so a result can be reproduced.
  4. Measure the whole workflow. Track usable results, response time, retries, failures, and the cost of the features and traffic used. A technically successful response that lacks required fields is not a useful result for an extraction job.
  5. Run enough requests to reveal variation. Repeat across the relevant pages and times. Note that a small test does not establish long-term reliability or guarantee future performance.
  6. Check operational fit. Confirm data delivery, support arrangements, concurrency limits, terms, and compliance documentation with the vendor before procurement.

Calculate cost at the feature tier you will actually use

Headline entry prices are not enough to compare scraping services. Bright Data specifically cautions that performance varies by target and that credit multipliers or bandwidth-based models can make headline prices misleading. The effective cost can depend on JavaScript rendering, proxy tier, geography, page size, target difficulty, retries, and required data structure.

For each candidate, estimate the cost of the same monthly workload using the exact feature tier and usage model you expect to need. Include unsuccessful attempts and retries if the vendor’s billing model charges for them, and check the vendor’s current pricing and terms directly. The reviewed comparison pages provide dated entry-price examples, not a dependable current price table.

Or skip the browser setup

If your requirement is a clean screenshot or PDF rather than scraped fields, ScreenshotNeo can capture a URL with one GET request. It accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server exposes screenshot tools to Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

The following cURL example saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe. Replace the example URL with the page you want to capture and supply your API key:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Troubleshooting a provider evaluation

Results differ sharply by target

Do not average away a blocked or unusually difficult domain. Segment results by site and page type, check whether configuration is identical, and ask the vendor which settings or product tier apply to that target. A benchmark across other domains cannot settle this question.

Pages load but extracted data is missing

Separate transport success from extraction success. Check whether the page requires JavaScript rendering, whether the expected content appears only after a specific interaction or delay, and whether the parser or structured-output feature is configured for the actual page shape. Validate required fields rather than counting any returned response as success.

Cost is higher than the headline price suggests

Recalculate against the actual feature tier, proxy or bandwidth model, geography, rendering, and retries. Ask the provider to explain any credit multiplier or billable unit in the estimate, then compare like-for-like workloads.

Published success rates seem contradictory

Check the source, date, targets, request rate, sample size, configuration, and definition of success. The ZenRows, Scrape.do, and Proxyway figures cited above come from different test scopes and should not be directly ranked against one another.

A screenshot is mistaken for scraped data

A screenshot API returns a visual image or PDF; it does not by itself produce a structured dataset or crawl a site. Use a scraping API or platform when your output must be extracted records. Consider ScreenshotNeo only when a visual capture is the deliverable.

Questions to resolve before you switch

Before choosing a service, verify current feature availability, pricing, terms, and compliance documentation directly with the provider. The cited comparisons provide useful leads, but their product descriptions and tests do not establish suitability for every target or workload.

Frequently Asked Questions
