The Zalman ZM-VS3 DS combines a GPU anti-sag support bracket with a small LCD that displays CPU temperature, GPU temperature, and the system clock. It also adds ARGB lighting and a display that tilts by up to 45 degrees. Its main appeal is convenience—not a full customizable monitoring dashboard.
What the ZM-VS3 DS does
The ZM-VS3 DS mounts near the case’s PCI expansion slots and supports the outer portion of a large graphics card. It is intended to reduce GPU sag, but it does not replace the card’s PCI-slot screws, a vertical GPU mount, or a case-specific support system. Correct positioning and case clearance still determine how effective and stable it is.
The built-in LCD shows:
- CPU temperature
- GPU temperature
- System clock
Zalman does not advertise fan-speed, utilization, wattage, frame-rate, hotspot-temperature, custom-image, or user-defined dashboard support. Independent testing found the display output effectively fixed, so treat it as a glanceable readout rather than a general-purpose PC dashboard.

Zalman does not specify the LCD’s resolution, refresh rate, brightness, panel size, or viewing angle. An independent review measured the visible display area at approximately 8.3 × 2.3 cm, but that is a reviewer measurement rather than an official specification. The official material also calls it an LCD; claims that it is IPS are not sufficiently established.
Two separate motherboard connections
The LCD and lighting use different connections:
- Internal USB 2.0 9-pin header: required for the display and its software.
- 5V 3-pin ARGB header: used for motherboard-controlled lighting.
Do not connect the ARGB cable to a 12V 4-pin RGB header. The voltage and connector standards are different, and using the wrong header could damage the lighting hardware.
A motherboard without a 5V 3-pin ARGB header may still be able to use the LCD if the USB connection and software work independently, but Zalman’s documentation does not clearly guarantee every partial-connection scenario. A spare internal USB header is the more important requirement for the display itself.
Software and temperature readings
The ZM-VS3 DS requires Zalman software on Windows 10 or newer. Zalman provides the product software through its official download list. An independent review identifies the application as Zalman CVM, or Core View Monitoring.

The available evidence does not establish the exact CPU or GPU sensor names, polling interval, calibration, or whether the GPU value is an edge, package, hotspot, or another reading. The bracket is therefore a software-driven display endpoint, not an independent temperature sensor. Its values depend on hardware support, drivers, Windows compatibility, and the sensors selected by the application.
Installation
Zalman’s installation guidance follows this general sequence:
- Connect the internal USB 9-pin cable and, if required, the 5V 3-pin ARGB cable.
- Place the support holder beneath the graphics card.
- Secure the bracket to the case’s PCI-slot opening with screws.
- Adjust its position so it supports the card without touching the GPU fans.
- Install the Windows software.
- Set the support height and depth, then tilt the LCD for visibility.
In practice, route the cables and test clearances before fully tightening the bracket. Raise the support only until it contacts the graphics card; it should not visibly lift or twist the card or interfere with its seating in the motherboard slot.

Compatibility: measure the case, not just the GPU slot count

- All-aluminum metal material - Provides strong and long-lasting support. This is made of all-aluminum metal instead of plastic, can avoid the aging of plastic materials and can be used as a long-term replacement.
- Screw adjustment design - The graphics card bracket design can be compatible with various chassis configurations of traditional and long power supply bays to meet various user hosts.
- Bottom hidden mag.net design - The mag.net hidden in the base is designed for easy installation and more stable standing in the chassis.
- The workmanship of the detail process - The small graphics card support frame is made of three complex processes: polished anode, sandblasted anode and CNC high-speed edge-washing high-gloss process. The full anode process can maintain the durability.
- Tool-free fixing module - The support module is equipped with a cushioning anti-scratch pad and a base high-gloss process.
- Available space below the graphics card
- Accessible PCI-slot screw holes
- GPU fan-blade clearance
- Interference from front fans, radiators, drive cages, shrouds, or cable bundles
- Card cooler thickness and shape
- Available internal USB 2.0 header
- Available 5V 3-pin ARGB header if lighting synchronization matters
Tight microATX cases are particularly risky. An independent review found that an extremely thick RTX 4090-class card could require removal of part of the vertical rail, reducing stability. That is a case-and-card-specific limitation, not proof that every large GPU is incompatible.
Troubleshooting
If the LCD does not work
- Check the internal USB 9-pin connection.
- Confirm the software is installed and running on Windows 10 or newer.
- Try another compatible internal USB header if available.
- Check whether another device or hub is occupying the header.
- Reboot after installing the software.
- Check Zalman’s download page for a newer application version.
If the LCD works but the lighting does not
Inspect the 5V 3-pin ARGB connection separately and confirm that it is not connected to a 12V 4-pin RGB header. Because the display and lighting use separate connections, this symptom points more strongly to an ARGB connection or motherboard-control issue than to the LCD itself.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Build quality and viewing angle
The main support structure uses steel, with plastic around the display and ARGB accenting. An independent review judged the construction acceptable for its price but reported that the screen hinge felt somewhat loose at certain angles. That is a reviewer’s observation of a tested unit, not a confirmed defect affecting every ZM-VS3 DS.

Price and availability vary by market
Early South Korean coverage reported a launch-equivalent price of roughly US$12, but that is not a US MSRP. Later listings show different regional prices:
- Singapore: approximately S$35 in independent coverage; one retailer listed the white model at S$39 and marked it out of stock when crawled.
- Japan: PC Koubou listed the black model at ¥3,180 with an April 24, 2026 sales start date.
- Germany/EU: Aquatuning listed the white model at €21.98 and showed an August 26, 2026 delivery date.
These listings are market-specific and may exclude shipping, tax, or import costs. No verified US retail price or US stock should be inferred from them. See the Japanese listing and German listing for their local terms.
Who should buy it?
The ZM-VS3 DS makes sense when you need GPU support and want a simple CPU/GPU/time display in the same accessory. It is most attractive when its local price is close to that of a conventional GPU bracket and your case has accessible PCI mounting points, enough clearance, and the required motherboard headers.

Choose something else if you need custom dashboards, broader sensor data, custom images, Linux or macOS support, or a software-free installation. A conventional GPU brace is simpler and usually cheaper. A separate USB mini-monitor is more flexible, while software-only monitoring avoids adding hardware altogether.
Verdict
The Zalman ZM-VS3 DS is a practical GPU support bracket with a novelty-sized monitoring display—not a replacement for a full PC dashboard. Its combination of anti-sag support, CPU/GPU temperatures, time, adjustable positioning, and ARGB lighting can be worthwhile when the price is right and the case fits it. The limited display information, Windows software dependency, two-header installation, and uncertain fit with exceptionally thick cards are the trade-offs to check before buying.
