There is no official desktop app called “YouTube ReVanced APK Builder.” On Windows, macOS, or Linux, ReVanced’s desktop-capable option is ReVanced CLI, a Java command-line tool that patches an Android app APK. The result is still an Android APK; it is not a desktop YouTube application.
What you can download—and what each tool does

Get the CLI from its official releases. The Manager project points Android users to its download page or GitHub releases. The patch bundle’s current source, supported YouTube versions, and required integrations can change, so follow the current CLI documentation rather than relying on a filename or version copied from an old guide.
The CLI documentation explains commands, patch selection, installation utilities, and verification: ReVanced CLI usage. The CLI can verify patch signatures and build provenance. Treat verification bypasses as a security trade-off, not as a recommended default.
Requirements before you build
- A Windows, macOS, or Linux computer with a compatible Java runtime available in the terminal.
- The ReVanced CLI JAR, a compatible patch bundle, and an original YouTube APK whose version is supported by that bundle.
- Enough free storage for those files and the generated APK, plus permission to run Java.
- An Android phone or tablet if you intend to use the result. A desktop computer can build the APK but cannot run it natively.
- Optional: Android Platform Tools and a USB cable if you want to install the APK from your computer using ADB. Get Platform Tools from Google’s Android developer site.
Use a clean working folder and simple filenames while setting up. Do not assume a particular Java major version: check the requirements for the CLI release you download.

Choose a compatible YouTube APK first
Not every YouTube APK can be patched. The supported source versions are determined by the patch bundle and can change independently of the CLI. The YouTube package name is com.google.android.youtube. Check supported packages and versions before choosing an input file.
- Download the current patch bundle from the source indicated by current ReVanced documentation.
- Run the CLI’s patch-list command shown below and find YouTube’s supported versions.
- Obtain the original APK from a legitimate source, matching the reported version and your Android device’s architecture where applicable.
- Check that the file is a regular
.apkif the workflow expects one. A file ending in.apkmor.xapkis a bundle that may contain multiple split APKs, not a single regular APK.
ReVanced does not operate every APK host. Verify the package name, version, architecture, and file type; a host’s availability does not establish that a file is safe or endorsed. ReVanced’s documentation discusses APK and split-APK considerations: ReVanced questions and answers. If you have a split bundle, use a reputable current conversion or installation workflow that supports it rather than renaming the file.
Run the CLI on Windows, macOS, or Linux
Place the CLI JAR, patch bundle, and source APK in the same working directory for the first build. The official CLI examples use these commands:

java -jar revanced-cli.jar patch -bp patches.rvp input.apkThe help command displays the commands available in your downloaded release. The list command reports patch details; the patch command applies the bundle to the input APK. Check the output shown by the CLI for the generated file and use the output option documented for that release if you need a particular filename. Do not assume flags from an older CLI version still apply.
The -bp option in these basic examples bypasses signature and provenance verification. It is included in the documented examples, but bypassing those checks reduces assurance about patch inputs. Prefer verified artifacts and the verification workflow documented for your CLI version; do not use a bypass merely to silence an unexplained verification failure.
Windows PowerShell
Open PowerShell in the working folder. PowerShell commonly uses . to refer explicitly to a file in the current directory; for these commands, use the normal PowerShell prefix . before each local filename as shown:

java -jar .revanced-cli.jar patch -bp .patches.rvp .input.apkIf PowerShell says Java is not recognized, install a compatible Java runtime and reopen the terminal. Extract downloaded archives before using their contents. A SmartScreen or Defender warning is not proof that a file is either safe or malicious: verify that you obtained the CLI from the official repository and inspect the release asset before deciding what to do.
macOS Terminal
Install a compatible Java runtime, then open Terminal in the working folder:

java -jar revanced-cli.jar patch -bp patches.rvp input.apkGatekeeper may block an unfamiliar download. Verify its origin before changing security settings; if macOS blocks a file you trust, review the available permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Apple Silicon and Intel Macs differ in the Java runtime you install, not in the target format: the output remains an Android APK. The official desktop workflow described here is CLI-based, not a macOS app.

Linux terminal
Install a compatible Java runtime through your distribution’s package manager, then run the same commands from the folder holding the files:

java -jar revanced-cli.jar patch -bp patches.rvp input.apkRun the JAR with your normal user account; avoid sudo unless a specific system task requires it. If you use a shell script, check its file permissions, but the commands above do not require making the JAR executable.
Install the finished APK on Android
You can transfer the generated APK to the device and install it there, or use ADB. Install ReVanced GmsCore on the Android device if the selected patches and sign-in arrangement require it; it is not a desktop dependency for running the CLI.

- Transfer the APK to the Android device, or connect the device with USB debugging enabled if using ADB.
- If Android asks, allow installation from the specific app or file manager you are using. This is a narrow “install unknown apps” permission; review or revoke it afterward if you no longer need it.
- Install the patched APK. If using ADB, first confirm that the device is reachable with
adb shell exit, then use the CLI installation utility documented for your release, such asjava -jar revanced-cli.jar utility install -a input.apk. With multiple devices connected, select the intended device using its serial as the CLI documentation describes. - Open the app and complete any GmsCore setup or sign-in steps required by the selected patches.
An existing Play Store YouTube app can conflict with installation because the patched APK may have a different signing key. Do not remove unrelated Android protections to work around an install failure; diagnose the package, signature, architecture, and Android-version compatibility instead. Root-based mounting is an advanced alternative, not necessary for the ordinary transfer or ADB workflow.

Should you use a third-party GUI builder?
A third-party builder may wrap the same general patching workflow in a graphical interface. For example, revanced-builder is a separate project, not an official ReVanced product. A GUI can reduce terminal work, but its safety, update cadence, build process, and support depend on its maintainer. The official CLI gives you a direct, repeatable workflow and the project’s CLI documentation applies to it.
If you choose a third-party builder, inspect its source, release history, and provenance independently; do not assume that a ReVanced-like name or a GitHub repository makes it official. For a simpler official interface, ReVanced Manager is the Android option, not the desktop equivalent.

Safety and account considerations
ReVanced is an unofficial modification project, not Google’s official YouTube application. Building locally from an original APK avoids trusting an unknown party’s prebuilt patched APK, though it does not make every input or modification risk-free. Avoid arbitrary “prebuilt ReVanced APK” download pages and use official project repositories for ReVanced components.
Use of a modified app may affect account access and may conflict with Google or YouTube policies. Review the current YouTube Terms of Service. Patch availability and behavior can change, so do not rely on any particular feature remaining available across updates.
