The Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro is a fitness band with a watch-like 1.74-inch AMOLED screen, built-in GPS and a lighter, slimmer design than most smartwatches. Those features make it appealing for walks and casual runs without a phone, but it lacks the apps, calls and payments of a full smartwatch. In Brazil, marketplace offers have varied from about R$498 to R$817 in observed listings; because these are seller-dependent prices, check the version, warranty and return policy before buying.
What the Smart Band 9 Pro is—and isn’t
The 9 Pro sits between a traditional fitness band and an entry-level smartwatch. It tracks activity, sleep and selected health indicators, records outdoor routes using its own satellite positioning, and shows phone notifications. Its larger rectangular screen looks more like a compact watch than the narrow display on the standard Smart Band 9.
Despite Brazilian listings often calling it a smartwatch, Xiaomi’s feature list does not describe a general-purpose app ecosystem, cellular service, wrist-based calls, contactless payments or music storage. It can control music playing on a paired phone, but that is not the same as storing or streaming music independently. Think of it as a capable fitness tracker with convenient phone features, not a replacement for a full smartwatch. Xiaomi’s product overview describes the supported features and limitations.
Design and comfort
The body measures about 43.27 × 32.49 × 10.8 mm, excluding the heart-rate sensor, and weighs approximately 24.5 g without its strap. Xiaomi lists an aluminum-alloy frame, polymer components and a TPU strap, with fit for wrists measuring 135–205 mm. The light body is an advantage over many conventional watches, while the broader case and display are easier to glance at than a slim band.

That width is also the main comfort caveat: on a small wrist, the 9 Pro may feel more prominent than a standard Smart Band. If possible, check the dimensions against a watch you already wear. Colors listed regionally include Obsidian Black, Rose Gold and Moonlight Silver, but availability depends on the seller and market. Xiaomi’s regional specifications list the measurements and materials.
A large, bright AMOLED display
The 1.74-inch AMOLED panel has a 336 × 480 resolution and a claimed peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits. Xiaomi also advertises a 60Hz refresh rate, noting that refresh behavior can vary by interface. A 2.5D reinforced cover glass and narrow borders complete the watch-like presentation. These are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee of how quickly the screen adjusts or how readable it will be in every situation.
The practical benefit is space: workout information and notifications have more room than on a narrow band. If outdoor readability, automatic brightness response, touch use with sweaty fingers or always-on display battery impact are decisive for you, look for hands-on observations of those specific conditions rather than relying on the peak-brightness figure alone.
Built-in GPS: the Pro model’s clearest reason to exist
The band has independent GNSS and supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS. It can therefore record an outdoor route without your phone in your pocket—useful for a run or walk when you want to travel light. This is a meaningful distinction from choosing a simpler band that relies on a connected phone for location.

Phone-free route recording does not make the band fully independent: setup, synchronization and later review still involve the phone and Mi Fitness. Notifications also require a phone connection. Xiaomi claims positioning accuracy is 33% better than the Smart Band 8 Pro, but that is a company comparison, not an independently verified route test. The available Brazilian hands-on coverage discusses the product’s design, display, health features, software and battery, but does not establish GPS lock time or route accuracy across Brazilian streets and trails. TudoCelular’s December 2024 hands-on video is a useful local overview, not proof of performance in every GPS condition.
For casual exercise, onboard GNSS is a strong convenience feature. Serious runners should look for a test that reports route behavior around tall buildings, tree cover and coastal paths, plus distance, pace, synchronization and battery use. Do not treat the presence of GPS—or a manufacturer accuracy claim—as evidence that a particular route will be reliable.
Fitness, health and sleep tracking
Xiaomi lists more than 150 sports modes, including walking, running, cycling, swimming, indoor exercise and strength training. The number describes the range of available modes; it does not mean each one offers equally detailed coaching or analytics. Outdoor activities can benefit from onboard GNSS. For indoor workouts, the band primarily provides activity and sensor data rather than satellite route tracking.

Health features include all-day heart-rate monitoring, blood-oxygen monitoring, sleep analysis, stress monitoring, menstrual-cycle tracking, breathing exercises and heart-rate alerts. Xiaomi says its heart-rate algorithm is 15% more accurate than the previous product; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently established result for every user or activity.

Wearable optical sensors depend on fit and conditions. A loose strap, movement, skin contact and exercise intensity can affect readings. Sleep stages and stress scores are estimates, not clinical findings. Xiaomi says the band and Mi Fitness are not medical devices; their measurements are for reference and well-being, not diagnosis. Do not use a SpO₂ reading or heart-rate alert from the band as a substitute for medical assessment or a dedicated medical instrument.
Water resistance: 5ATM, not “waterproof”
The 5ATM rating means the device was tested under a laboratory water-resistance standard; it is not a promise that it is safe in every water condition. Xiaomi says it is suitable for pool swimming and shallow-water activity, but not hot showers, saunas, diving or direct impact from fast-moving water. Water resistance can diminish over time, so do not interpret the rating as permanent protection.
Battery life and charging
The band has a 350mAh battery and magnetic charging. Xiaomi’s regional specifications estimate about 75 minutes for a full charge and up to 21 days in typical-use mode. Its estimates fall to up to 10 days with the always-on display and up to 8 days under heavy load. These are company figures under defined conditions, not a promise that every owner will see those totals.

The useful takeaway is that the 9 Pro is designed to need fewer charging sessions than many full smartwatches, not that it will last three weeks with every feature enabled. When comparing real-world battery reports, check the settings and workout frequency rather than comparing day counts without context.

Mi Fitness, compatibility and everyday features
Xiaomi lists compatibility with Android 8.0 or later and iOS 12 or later through the Mi Fitness app. The band supports notifications, alarms, weather, music controls, compass, timers, stopwatch and find-phone features. Some functions, including certain event-related or camera controls, are restricted to Xiaomi or Redmi phones, so do not assume every feature works identically on Android and iPhone.
Pairing and data synchronization rely on the app and its phone permissions. On Android, background restrictions or battery optimization can interfere with timely notifications or syncing; check Mi Fitness notification permissions and allow the app to run in the background if updates stop arriving. Notifications are not the same as full messaging: the listed feature set does not establish that you can reply from the band. Watch-face selection and firmware updates are handled through the app. For an imported device, confirm the seller’s stated language and regional version rather than assuming every listing has identical firmware behavior.
How it compares with nearby choices
- Xiaomi Smart Band 9: A smaller, more traditional band may suit buyers who do not need the 9 Pro’s larger screen and independent GNSS. The Pro’s value is clearest if those upgrades matter to you.
- Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro: The predecessor may make sense at a significant discount. Xiaomi claims improvements in battery life and positioning for the 9 Pro, but those claims should not be mistaken for independent testing.
- Huawei Watch Fit 3 or a Redmi Watch: Consider these if you prefer a more conventional watch presentation or are prioritizing smartwatch-style functionality. Compare the specific model’s supported features and local warranty; current competitor prices are not established here.
- A dedicated fitness watch: If training metrics and structured coaching matter more than a slim band, compare dedicated running watches directly. The 9 Pro’s mode count alone does not make it an advanced training watch.
Buying the Smart Band 9 Pro in Brazil
The available Brazilian offers found for this article were marketplace listings from third-party sellers; an official Xiaomi Brazil direct-sales page was not verified. Observed prices ranged roughly from R$498 to R$817, with variation by listing, color, seller and payment method. Those are volatile marketplace snapshots, not a stable Brazilian retail price or official MSRP. Check the live offer before making a decision.
Listings use names such as “Mi Smart Band 9 Pro,” “Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro” and “Global version,” and may show different model identifiers. For example, one KaBuM listing identifies M2402B1 as a global version, while another uses BHR8714GL. Do not assume codes are interchangeable based solely on a listing title. Before ordering, confirm:

- Exact model and whether the seller identifies it as a global version.
- Portuguese language support and the included charger and strap.
- Who is selling the item, who provides the warranty, and how returns work.
- Whether you will receive an invoice and what support is available for an imported unit.
- Whether the listed price includes the relevant delivery and import costs.
Marketplace listings can help establish what sellers are asking, but they do not prove Xiaomi sells the model directly in Brazil or that Xiaomi Brazil will support every imported unit. The lowest headline price is only a good deal if the version, seller, return terms and warranty are acceptable.

Who should buy it?
Buy it if you want a bright, roomy screen in a light form, plan to record walks or casual runs without your phone, and value long intervals between charges more than a full smartwatch app ecosystem. It is also a better fit if you already use Mi Fitness and are comfortable checking a third-party seller’s terms.

Think twice if you need dependable medical measurements, have a very small wrist, or expect 21 days with always-on display and frequent GPS use. A local warranty and support may matter more than a lower imported price.
Skip it if your priority is wrist-based calling, payments, cellular connectivity, third-party apps, standalone music or advanced training analytics. If the 9 Pro approaches the price of a more capable smartwatch or dedicated fitness watch, its lighter band format and battery claims may not justify the difference for your needs.
