The Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is still a fast, capable 5G phone—but it is no longer a sensible long-term primary phone for most buyers. Its Snapdragon 865, 144Hz display, stabilized 108MP camera and 5,000mAh battery remain useful in 2026. However, Xiaomi now lists it as an end-of-life (EOL) product, so regular firmware and security updates have ended. Buy one only at a substantial used discount, after checking its battery, regional network support and software condition.
What is the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro?
Announced on September 30, 2020, the Mi 10T Pro was Xiaomi’s performance-focused value flagship. It delivered the same Snapdragon 865 platform and 144Hz display concept as the Mi 10T, while adding a higher-resolution 108MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The Mi 10T Lite was a lower-tier Snapdragon 750G model; the Mi 10T Pro is also a different phone from the earlier Mi 10 Pro 5G.
Its launch positioning was straightforward: flagship-class processing, 5G and a large battery for less than conventional flagships. European launch pricing was €599/£599, although configurations and prices varied by market (launch announcement; historical review context).
Specifications at a glance
Regional versions differ. Confirm the exact model number, storage, memory, radio bands, ROM region, NFC availability and box contents before buying an imported unit.

Design and display: smooth LCD, not OLED
The 144Hz AdaptiveSync panel makes scrolling and supported games feel unusually fluid. The variable refresh system can lower refresh rate for suitable content, helping endurance, while LCD avoids OLED burn-in concerns. Touch response is also a benefit for gaming.
The compromise is visible beside an AMOLED phone. Blacks are grayish rather than truly black, contrast is lower, and there is no OLED-style always-on experience. The phone is large and heavy, and 144Hz is not active in every application: the system and content decide the actual rate. Gorilla Glass 5 is listed in Xiaomi materials, but do not assume an IP68 water-resistance rating; no universal IP68 claim should be made for this model.

Snapdragon 865 is the Mi 10T Pro’s best aging asset. It remains quick for everyday apps, multitasking, photography and demanding games, and 8GB RAM is adequate for normal use. Contemporary reviews consistently treated performance as a major strength (TechRadar; Android Authority).

That does not make it equivalent to a 2026 flagship. Newer chips are faster and more efficient, and sustained gaming performance depends on temperature, game settings, battery health and software. The 128GB version can become restrictive once large games, 4K/8K video and offline media accumulate, because there is no microSD slot. Do not reuse launch-review benchmark numbers as current measurements.
Cameras: a strong main sensor with clear compromises
- 108MP main: the genuinely useful camera, with OIS, pixel-binning, Night, Pro and RAW modes.
- 13MP ultrawide: useful in daylight but less detailed and less capable in dim scenes.
- 5MP macro: limited-purpose close-up camera rather than a replacement for a telephoto.
- 20MP selfie: suitable for calls and social images, not a defining feature.
Reviews praised the main camera, while noting weaker zoom versatility than phones with a dedicated telephoto lens (Android Central; TechRadar). A 108MP specification does not guarantee better HDR, autofocus, night detail, skin tones or video than a newer 50MP phone. Expect digital zoom to lose detail, especially compared with modern telephoto systems.
Battery and charging
The original 5,000mAh battery and 33W wired charging were strong launch features. Reviews generally found endurance good, with results changing substantially between 60Hz, AdaptiveSync and 144Hz use. There is no wireless charging.

In 2026, the condition of an individual battery matters more than its printed capacity. Five-plus years of heat, gaming, 5G and charging may have reduced capacity significantly. A reputable battery replacement can restore usability, but include the repair cost and risk in the purchase decision. Do not quote a universal modern screen-on-time figure without testing the actual handset.

Software support in 2026: the decisive drawback
Xiaomi’s Security Center lists the Mi 10T Pro among its end-of-life products. Xiaomi says EOL devices no longer receive regular software, firmware or security updates; the list was updated May 26, 2026 (Xiaomi EOL list). Xiaomi’s general policy says smartphones typically receive security updates for at least two years, with some models supported longer (policy explanation).
EOL does not mean the phone instantly stops running apps. It does mean continued app compatibility is not the same as receiving fixes for newly discovered vulnerabilities. The Mi 10T Pro is therefore a poor choice for mobile banking, sensitive business data, enterprise deployment or anyone requiring dependable current patches. It can still make sense as a secondary, offline, media, gaming or travel device when the price is low.
Do not assume every unit has the same final Android or MIUI version; firmware history varies by region. Xiaomi’s official EOL status is the reliable current conclusion.

5G, ROM and regional compatibility
“5G phone” does not mean universal 5G service. Before buying an imported Mi 10T Pro, check the exact model number and country of sale, then verify your carrier’s LTE/5G bands, VoLTE, Wi‑Fi Calling and device-certification requirements. Also identify whether the phone has global, European, Indian or another regional ROM, and whether its bootloader is unlocked or software has been modified.

For United States buyers, the Mi 10T Pro was not a mainstream official retail model. Carrier support, activation and VoLTE can therefore be uncertain even when a SIM physically fits. Verify the model against the carrier’s current approved-device and band lists rather than relying on a seller’s “works with 5G” claim.
What to test before buying a used unit
- Confirm 8GB/128GB versus 8GB/256GB and record the exact model number.
- Check IMEI and blacklist status, seller return terms, and removal from the seller’s Xiaomi and Google accounts.
- Test both SIM slots, mobile data, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, microphones, speakers, vibration and USB-C charging.
- Test every camera, autofocus, flash, video recording and fingerprint reader.
- Inspect the LCD for dead pixels, touch failures, cracks, image retention and a loose or damaged camera bump.
- Watch for abnormal drain, overheating, boot loops, random restarts or repeated crashes.
- Check the ROM and bootloader state; avoid unexplained modified software.
- Confirm the charger is safe and compatible, and price any battery replacement before committing.
For restart problems, Xiaomi recommends checking third-party launchers, cleaners, battery managers, themes, fonts and scheduled power settings. Its hardware diagnostic (CIT) codes are *#*#6484#*#* and *#*#64663#*#*. Back up data before a factory reset, and do not casually flash unofficial firmware (Xiaomi troubleshooting). Update failures can also result from insufficient storage, low battery, network problems, modified ROMs or simply ended device support (update guidance).
Who should buy it?
- Someone finding a genuinely inexpensive, clean unit and prioritizing speed over support.
- A gamer or media user who values a large 144Hz screen, stereo speakers and battery capacity.
- A buyer seeking a secondary or low-risk device rather than a security-critical primary phone.
- A user able to verify regional bands, battery health and return protection.
Who should avoid it?
- Anyone needing current security patches, banking confidence, enterprise management or a long warranty.
- Buyers who require an OLED display, wireless charging, microSD expansion or optical zoom.
- U.S. shoppers who cannot verify carrier certification and VoLTE.
- Anyone paying nearly as much as a newer phone with active support.
- Buyers facing immediate battery, screen and charging-port repairs.
Alternatives to evaluate
Compare total condition and remaining support, not just processor names. A newer budget or mid-range Android phone usually offers better security support and efficiency, even if its peak gaming performance is lower. A used Galaxy S20 FE 5G may add AMOLED and a telephoto camera, but its update status and battery vary by region. A used Xiaomi 11T Pro offers newer hardware and faster charging, yet still requires a support check. Google Pixel A-series phones generally provide stronger software support and computational photography, while newer Redmi or POCO models may offer a fresher battery and warranty at similar money. For every alternative, compare security-update horizon, display, camera consistency, battery condition, carrier compatibility, warranty and total price.

The Mi 10T Pro remains impressive hardware for its age: Snapdragon 865 performance, a smooth 144Hz panel, a competent stabilized main camera, stereo speakers and a large battery. Its deliberate cost cuts—LCD, no wireless charging, no telephoto, no microSD and no strong water-resistance claim—are easier to accept when it is very cheap.
Its EOL software status changes the recommendation. Buy only a well-tested, substantially discounted unit for performance-focused or secondary use, and verify the region and battery first. For a secure primary phone, a newer supported model is the better value even if its specification sheet looks less dramatic.
