Wyze’s Lock Bolt v2 adds built-in Wi-Fi to the company’s fingerprint-equipped deadbolt while keeping the predecessor’s regular $79.98 price. Announced on November 18, 2025, the new model supports remote app control, status monitoring, guest codes, physical-key backup, and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi—but it is a full deadbolt replacement, not a Wi-Fi upgrade for an existing Lock Bolt.
The short version
The Wyze Lock Bolt v2 is aimed at homeowners and renters with a compatible standard U.S. single-cylinder deadbolt. Its main upgrade over the original Lock Bolt is built-in Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for a separate gateway for network features.
Wyze announced the v2 at a regular price of $79.98, the same list price it cited for the original Lock Bolt. However, pricing needs context: when checked on August 18, 2026, the v2 was listed at $79.98 plus shipping, while the older Lock Bolt was on sale for $74.98, reduced from $79.98. That means Wi-Fi was added at the predecessor’s regular price—not that the v2 is currently cheaper than the v1. Prices, promotions, shipping, taxes, and availability can change.
What changed from the original Lock Bolt?
The original Wyze Lock Bolt, released on April 19, 2022, uses Bluetooth rather than Wi-Fi. The v2 is a redesigned product with:

Wyze quotes fingerprint unlocking at different speeds on its own materials: the press release says 0.5 seconds, while the features page says 0.3 seconds. The fairest description is that Wyze claims roughly 0.3 to 0.5-second unlocking; these are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
Built-in Wi-Fi does not mean everything works offline
The lock uses Bluetooth 5.3 for nearby setup and communication, then connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for remote access and notifications. It supports 802.11b/g/n and Wi-Fi 4, 5, and 6 networks, but a router broadcasting only 5GHz will not work.
Remote control and cloud-dependent status features require the lock to be online. Wyze says some local functions, including Lock After Hours, continue without an internet connection. A home power outage should not automatically disable the battery-powered lock, although remote features may become unavailable if the network or internet connection is down.

On mesh systems, setup may be easier if the router temporarily exposes or separates its 2.4GHz network. That is a practical troubleshooting step, not a stated requirement for every mesh system.
Entry methods and security qualifications
Lock Bolt v2 supports fingerprint recognition, numeric access codes, scheduled or one-time guest codes, physical keys, Wyze app control, and remote Wi-Fi control. It also includes adjustable auto-lock and Lock After Hours, which can enforce local locking schedules.
Wyze says fingerprint data is stored locally on the lock and “never in the cloud.” That is a manufacturer security claim, not evidence that the entire product, Wyze account, app, or network has been independently audited or made breach-proof. Buyers should still consider account security and keep the physical-key fallback available.
Check your door before buying
Compatibility is the most important qualification. Wyze says the v2 fits most standard U.S. doors measuring 35–55mm thick and replaces an existing single-cylinder deadbolt.

- A mortise or multipoint lock.
- An integrated lock-and-handle design.
- A Dutch-door configuration.
- A door thinner than 35mm.
- A nonstandard rim-cylinder setup.
Some rim-cylinder or nonstandard installations may require drilling, chiseling, or other tools. Compare the existing deadbolt and measure the door before purchasing; do not assume installation will be tool-free.
Battery life and physical specifications
Eight AA batteries are included. Wyze rates battery life at up to eight months under its stated normal-use assumption of about 10 lock/unlock events per day. Actual life can vary with Wi-Fi conditions, temperature, usage, and door alignment.
A USB-C port provides emergency power, but Wyze says the cable is not included. A power bank can temporarily power the lock if the batteries are depleted, after which you can use an access code or another supported entry method.

IP53 means weather resistance, not waterproofing for every fully exposed installation. The published dimensions also show that the interior assembly is substantial, so check clearance around the inside of the door.
Setup overview
Wyze’s documented setup requires a phone, the Wyze app, Bluetooth, and a compatible 2.4GHz network:
- Connect the phone to mobile data or Wi-Fi and enable Bluetooth.
- On iOS, enable Location permissions. On Android 12 or newer, enable Nearby permissions.
- Stay within about 16 feet of the lock.
- In the Wyze app, go to Home → + → Device → Home → Wyze Lock Bolt v2.
- Choose whether to install the lock first or skip installation.
- Press and hold the lock’s RESET button for eight seconds. The status light should pulse red and then turn solid green; Wyze says this can take up to 30 seconds.
- Confirm the beeping prompt in the app and allow requested permissions.
- Pair over Bluetooth, then select Wi-Fi setup or choose No, I Will Connect Manually.
- Select the 2.4GHz network and enter its password.
- Calibrate the lock, create an access code, add a fingerprint, and tap Done.
Quick troubleshooting
The lock does not appear
Confirm Bluetooth, Location or Nearby permissions, the app version, and that the phone is within 16 feet.
Wi-Fi pairing fails
Verify that the router is broadcasting 2.4GHz and that the password is correct. A 5GHz-only network cannot be used.

Check deadbolt and strike-plate alignment. Mechanical resistance can prevent a smart lock from operating correctly and is not necessarily a Wi-Fi or battery problem.

The batteries are dead
Connect a power bank to the USB-C emergency-power port, then unlock using an access code or another supported method.
The door does not match
Do not force installation on mortise, multipoint, Dutch-door, undersized, or otherwise incompatible configurations.
You already own Lock Bolt v1
Treat v2 as a replacement product, not a software update. Its hardware, battery configuration, and connectivity differ from the original.

Wyze’s comparison chart listed the original Lock Bolt at $74.98 on sale, down from $79.98; the Palm Lock at $129.98; and the original Wyze Lock with gateway at $123.99, shown as sold out. Those observations are time-sensitive.
Who should buy it?
Lock Bolt v2 makes sense if you have a compatible single-cylinder deadbolt, want inexpensive remote access, and value fingerprint entry, guest codes, a physical key, and emergency USB-C power. It is also a straightforward choice for households already using Wyze cameras or doorbells.
Look elsewhere if you need a retrofit installation, have a mortise or multipoint lock, use a fully exposed door where stronger weather protection matters, or require a platform such as Matter, Apple Home, or Home Assistant. The supplied Wyze integrations confirm Alexa, Google Assistant, and Wyze Automations, but do not establish support for those other ecosystems.
The v2 is not automatically a better choice than the discounted v1: buyers who only need local Bluetooth access may prefer the older model’s longer listed battery life. Conversely, the v1 cannot provide the v2’s built-in Wi-Fi features. For contactless palm recognition and a dual-battery design, the Palm Lock is the more expensive Wyze option.

Verdict
Wyze’s headline is broadly accurate, with an important correction: it is the new Lock Bolt v2, not the original Wyze Lock, that adds built-in Wi-Fi. Wyze kept the predecessor’s $79.98 regular price while adding remote control and other hardware changes, although the older model may currently cost less during a sale. At $79.98, the v2 is a compelling low-cost option for compatible doors—but its 2.4GHz requirement, battery-powered design, cloud-dependent remote features, IP53 rating, and full deadbolt replacement make compatibility and expectations more important than the headline price.
