Drücken Sie am Monitor die Taste Input, Source oder Eingang beziehungsweise den Joystick. Öffnen Sie anschließend die Eingangsquelle und wählen Sie HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DisplayPort oder USB-C. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl mit OK oder einem Druck auf den Joystick.
Das ist etwas anderes als Windows-Taste + P: Dieser Shortcut ändert den Windows-Anzeigemodus, aber normalerweise nicht den physischen Eingang des Monitors.
Monitor-Eingang manuell wechseln
- Schalten Sie die angeschlossenen Computer, die Konsole oder andere Signalquellen ein.
- Verbinden Sie die Geräte mit unterschiedlichen Anschlüssen, etwa den Desktop-PC per DisplayPort und den Laptop per HDMI oder USB-C.
- Drücken Sie die Taste oder den Joystick an der Rückseite, Unterseite oder Seite des Monitors.
- Öffnen Sie Input, Source, Input Source, Eingang oder Signalquelle.
- Wählen Sie den gewünschten Anschluss aus und bestätigen Sie die Auswahl.
Je nach Modell öffnet ein kurzer Druck auf eine Direkttaste sofort die Quellenliste. Bei anderen Geräten müssen Sie zuerst das OSD-Menü öffnen oder den Joystick in eine bestimmte Richtung bewegen. Einen universellen Tastencode gibt es nicht. HP nennt beispielsweise den Menüpfad Menu → Input; die genaue Bezeichnung finden Sie in der Bedienungsanleitung Ihres Modells: HP-Anleitung zur Eingangswahl.

Automatische Eingangswahl aktivieren
Viele Monitore bieten eine Funktion wie Auto Input Select, Input Auto Switch, Auto Source oder Automatic Source Detection. Sie befindet sich häufig im Eingangs- oder Systemmenü. Bei bestimmten BenQ-Modellen lautet der Pfad beispielsweise OSD → System → Input Auto Switch → On: BenQ-Hinweise zur automatischen Eingangswahl.
Das Verhalten ist modellabhängig. Der Monitor kann die einzige aktive Quelle wählen, nach einem Signalausfall auf eine andere Quelle wechseln, einen Anschluss bevorzugen oder trotz aktiver anderer Quelle auf dem manuell ausgewählten Eingang bleiben. Wenn zwei Geräte gleichzeitig ein gültiges Signal liefern, ist die automatische Auswahl daher nicht immer vorhersehbar.

Deaktivieren Sie Auto-Switch und wählen Sie den Eingang manuell, wenn der Monitor ständig auf die falsche Quelle wechselt. Ziehen Sie testweise nicht benötigte Kabel ab. Prüfen Sie außerdem die KVM-Einstellungen: Bei einzelnen BenQ-Modellen kann eine feste Videoquelle im KVM-Menü die automatische Umschaltung beeinflussen oder deaktivieren: BenQ-Hinweis zu KVM und Auto-Switch.
Windows-Taste + P schaltet nicht den Monitoreingang
Mit Windows-Taste + P wählen Sie unter Windows zwischen Nur PC-Bildschirm, Duplizieren, Erweitern und Nur zweiter Bildschirm. Damit bestimmt Windows, wie es die erkannte Anzeige verwendet. Die Auswahl von HDMI, DisplayPort oder USB-C am Monitor erfolgt weiterhin über dessen OSD.

Der Shortcut ist nützlich, wenn ein Computer mehrere Monitore verwaltet. Bei einem PC, Laptop und einer Konsole, die an demselben Monitor hängen, müssen Sie dagegen normalerweise die Signalquelle des Monitors wechseln.
PC, Laptop und Konsole richtig anschließen
- HDMI: häufig bei PCs, Laptops, Spielekonsolen und Streaming-Geräten.
- DisplayPort: häufig bei Desktop-Grafikkarten und PC-Monitoren.
- USB-C: kann Video, Daten und Strom übertragen, muss dies aber nicht. Der USB-C-Port des Computers benötigt beispielsweise DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4 oder Thunderbolt mit Videoausgabe.
- VGA und DVI: ältere Anschlüsse; Adapter können Auflösung, Bildwiederholrate oder Erkennung begrenzen.
- Mini DisplayPort: kann sich bei der automatischen Erkennung anders verhalten als reguläre Eingänge.
Bei USB-C müssen Computer, Kabel, Dockingstation und Monitor zusammenpassen. Eine Dockingstation stellt zwar mehrere Ausgänge bereit, wählt aber nicht automatisch den aktiven Monitoreingang. Bei HDMI und DisplayPort hängen Auflösung, HDR, variable Bildwiederholrate und maximale Bildfrequenz von den Versionen und Fähigkeiten beider Geräte ab: Samsung: HDMI-, DisplayPort- und USB-C-Grundlagen.

Monitor-Eingang per Software umschalten
Bei unterstützten Modellen kann Hersteller-Software die Quelle auswählen, ohne dass Sie die Monitortasten verwenden:
- Dell Display Manager beziehungsweise Dell Display and Peripheral Manager können je nach Monitor Eingangsquellen und KVM-Funktionen steuern.
- Lenovo Display Control Center bietet bei unterstützten Modellen die Auswahl der Videoquelle und teilweise KVM-Einstellungen.
Die Unterstützung ist modell-, Anschluss- und teilweise betriebssystemabhängig. Bei Dell kann außerdem DDC/CI im Monitor-OSD aktiviert sein müssen. DDC/CI ermöglicht die Kommunikation zwischen Computer und Monitor, wird aber nicht von jedem Gerät vollständig unterstützt. Adapter, Docks und HDMI-Switches können diese Kommunikation stören. Die Software wechselt nur den Monitoreingang; Tastatur und Maus werden dadurch nicht automatisch umgeschaltet. Weitere Informationen: Dell-Handbuch zu DDC/CI und Lenovo Display Control Center.

KVM-Monitor, HDMI-Switch oder DisplayPort-Switch?
Ein normaler Monitor wechselt nur die Bildquelle. Ein Monitor mit integriertem KVM kann zusätzlich USB-Geräte zwischen zwei Computern umschalten. Dafür benötigen Sie normalerweise zwei Videoverbindungen, USB-Upstream-Verbindungen zu beiden Computern sowie Tastatur und Maus an den USB-Anschlüssen des Monitors. Die Einrichtung ist modellabhängig; Dell beschreibt die erforderliche Verkabelung in seinem KVM-Setup-Leitfaden.

Bei einem externen KVM- oder Videoswitch prüfen Sie vor dem Kauf die maximale Auflösung und Bildwiederholrate, HDMI- oder DisplayPort-Version, HDR, HDCP, VRR, USB-C-Stromversorgung, EDID-Verhalten und die gewünschte Umschaltmethode. Ein Switch kann die Signalqualität oder unterstützte Funktionen gegenüber einer direkten Verbindung begrenzen.
PBP und PIP: mehrere Quellen gleichzeitig anzeigen
PBP (Picture by Picture) zeigt zwei Quellen nebeneinander. PIP (Picture in Picture) stellt eine Quelle groß und eine weitere als kleines Fenster dar. Das ist kein gewöhnliches Umschalten, sondern eine separate Monitorfunktion. Welche Eingänge miteinander kombiniert werden können, hängt vom Modell ab. Lenovo dokumentiert solche Eingangsmatrizen beispielsweise für bestimmte ThinkVision-Monitore: Lenovo-Informationen zu PIP/PBP.
Fehlerbehebung bei „Kein Signal“
- Prüfen Sie, ob das Quellgerät eingeschaltet und nicht im Standby ist.
- Wählen Sie den tatsächlich verwendeten Monitoranschluss manuell aus.
- Stecken Sie das Kabel an beiden Enden neu ein und kontrollieren Sie, ob es am richtigen Ausgang des Computers steckt.
- Testen Sie ein anderes Kabel und, falls vorhanden, einen anderen Ausgang.
- Prüfen Sie bei USB-C, ob der konkrete Port Video unterstützt.
- Umgehen Sie Adapter und Dockingstation testweise und verbinden Sie das Gerät direkt mit dem Monitor.
- Starten Sie den Computer neu, während der gewünschte Monitoreingang ausgewählt ist.
- Prüfen Sie erst danach Auflösung und Bildwiederholrate im Betriebssystem.
Wenn eine Eingangsoption fehlt, kann der Monitor nur einen Videoeingang besitzen, den Anschluss modellabhängig deaktivieren, ihn erst bei einem erkannten Signal anzeigen oder eine eigene Auswahl für KVM, PBP oder PIP verwenden. Auch ein gesperrtes OSD oder ein manuell erforderlicher USB-C-Eingang kommt infrage.
