Why was Wolves vs Chelsea blacked out?
The decisive factor was the kick-off time, not the teams involved. The match began at 3pm on a Saturday, the slot covered by the UK’s long-standing Saturday 3pm football blackout. Premier League fixtures in that window are excluded from live domestic television coverage, while matches moved to other time slots can be selected for broadcast.

Both clubs confirmed the practical result in their official match guides: the game would not be broadcast live in the UK. The blackout applied even though Wolves and Chelsea are Premier League clubs and the fixture was of interest to supporters of both sides.
Was it on Sky Sports or TNT Sports?
No live UK broadcast listing applied to this fixture. It was not a case of choosing the wrong Sky Sports channel, missing a Sky Sports+ listing or needing a different TNT Sports package.
The official Chelsea viewing guide stated that the match was not available live in the UK, while the Wolves guide gave the same warning. Buying a sports subscription would not have overridden the blackout for this particular 3pm fixture.

Those services remain relevant for other Premier League matches selected for live coverage. Fixtures moved to Friday night, Saturday evening, Sunday or Monday slots can be televised, depending on the rights allocation.

Could UK fans stream it legally?
There was no official live video stream for supporters in the UK. That distinction matters: the fixture was unavailable as live video, but it was not unavailable as live information or audio.
Fans should not treat unofficial IPTV services, mirror websites or unauthorised streams as legitimate alternatives. A VPN may also conflict with a broadcaster’s terms and does not change the UK rights position.
How fans could follow the match
Wolves TV and the Wolves App
Wolves provided pre-match build-up, full 90-minute audio commentary and post-match reaction through Wolves TV and the Wolves App. The audio coverage was scheduled to begin at approximately 2:30pm, ahead of the 3pm kick-off.

Chelsea Matchday Live
Chelsea offered Matchday Live coverage through its official digital channels, including minute-by-minute text updates and live audio commentary via the club’s website and app. This provided team news, match events and live updates without showing the game itself.
Highlights and replay
According to Chelsea’s historical match guide, short official highlights became available from 7pm on Saturday, February 7. A full-match replay was scheduled from midnight on Sunday, February 8, through Chelsea’s official digital services.
Those were post-match options, not substitutes for live UK television. Availability and release times can change for different fixtures, so they should not be assumed to apply to another Wolves-Chelsea match.

Viewers outside the UK may have been able to watch through their country’s official Premier League rights holder. The broadcaster and streaming service depended on the territory; there was no single international channel that applied worldwide.

An overseas listing was not evidence that the game was legally available to viewers located in the UK. Domestic rights and blackout rules still applied based on the viewer’s location.
Does the blackout apply to every Premier League match?
No. The restriction concerns the protected Saturday afternoon window, rather than every Premier League fixture. Matches moved away from the Saturday 3pm slot can be chosen for live television coverage.
For example, Sky’s 2026/27 Premier League viewing guide lists live matches across Friday, Saturday evening, Sunday and Monday scheduling. That illustrates why checking the kick-off slot is more useful than assuming every Premier League game will be available—or unavailable—on the same service.
