Guessing Murder, She Wrote, Miss Marple, Elementary, Vera, or another series would risk attributing the claim to the wrong show.
That matters because the headline promises specific facts: a named female detective, a series viewers can watch, and a no-cost viewing option. None of those details can be confirmed from the supplied evidence.

The comparison could refer to several different qualities:

- Deduction: Sherlock Holmes is generally portrayed as relying on observation, forensic knowledge, inference, and logic.
- Investigation style: Another detective might solve cases through empathy, collaboration, patient interviewing, or social insight.
- Case design: A tightly constructed episodic mystery may be more satisfying to some viewers than a faster, more serialized puzzle-box drama.
- Character appeal: Atmosphere, humor, supporting characters, setting, and rewatchability can matter as much as raw cleverness.
Unless the comparison defines a standard—such as consistency of reasoning, quality of clues, or case-solving record—“puts Sherlock to shame” is best treated as promotional language or a critic’s opinion. A female detective should not be considered superior merely because the show reverses Sherlock’s gender or uses a different tone.
What must be confirmed before recommending the show
A reliable article about the program would need to establish the detective’s full name, series title, lead actor, country and original language, production company or network, season and episode count, professional role, setting, tone, and recurring cast.

It should also show how the detective actually works. Are solutions demonstrated through discoverable clues, or explained through a last-minute revelation? Does she repeatedly use a credible method, or does the plot simply require her to be brilliant? Those distinctions separate a convincing Sherlock comparison from a click-driven one.

Free-streaming claims are particularly easy to misread. They may describe:

These are not interchangeable. A proper listing should identify the exact service, title page, number of free seasons or episodes, advertising, signup requirements, device restrictions, and territory. U.S. availability can differ from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other markets.
What the current evidence does show
JustWatch’s U.S. listing for Sherlock distinguishes subscription, ad-supported, purchase, and library-style access. Its availability information was checked July 31, 2026, so it should be treated as a dated snapshot, not a permanent guarantee.

Prime Video lists Jeremy Brett’s The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and related Holmes programming as “Watch for free” in the cited result. That confirms a free-viewing label for a Sherlock title; it does not identify the unknown female detective in the headline.
