In current Microsoft Edge, the feature formerly called Web Capture is named Screenshot. Open Settings and more from the three-dot button at the upper right of the browser, then select Screenshot. You can also right-click the webpage and select Screenshot, or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
Find Web Capture in Edge’s menus
If you are looking for Web Capture by its old name, look for Screenshot instead. Microsoft’s current feature guidance uses that label, while its policy documentation describes Screenshot as the feature previously named Web Capture.
- Open the webpage you want to capture in Microsoft Edge.
- Select the three-dot Settings and more button at the upper right of the browser window.
- Select Screenshot from the menu.
- Choose the capture area offered by the feature: Edge can capture a selected area or a full webpage.
The exact availability or behavior can vary with device type, market and browser version. On a managed device, an administrator-controlled policy can affect whether the feature is available.
Other ways to open Screenshot
Right-click the webpage
Right-click the page and look for Screenshot in the context menu. This is a useful alternative if you do not want to open the Settings and more menu. The option may not appear in every browser configuration; if it is missing, try the keyboard shortcut or menu route.

Use the Edge keyboard shortcut
Press Ctrl+Shift+S while using Edge. Microsoft documents this shortcut for Screenshot, the renamed Web Capture feature. If nothing opens, check that Edge is the active application, then try the menu route. On a work- or school-managed browser, the WebCaptureEnabled policy may affect access through the menus and shortcut.
Choose a full webpage or a selected area
Edge Screenshot is for capturing webpage content. Microsoft describes two capture choices: a full webpage or a selected area. Choose a full-page capture when you need content beyond the portion currently visible in the browser window; choose a selected area when you only need a particular part of the page.

The choice is different from capturing the entire computer screen. If you need a screenshot of another application, the desktop, or a screen region that includes elements outside the webpage, use a system screen-capture tool instead. On Windows, Microsoft’s Snipping Tool opens with Windows logo key+Shift+S and supports freeform, rectangular, window and full-screen snips. That shortcut is not Edge’s Screenshot shortcut: Edge uses Ctrl+Shift+S.
If Screenshot is missing or does not open
Work through these checks in order. They distinguish a renamed feature, a shortcut mix-up and a configuration issue without assuming that every Edge installation exposes the feature in precisely the same way.

- Search for the current name. In the three-dot menu and the page context menu, look for Screenshot, not Web Capture. Web Capture is the former name.
- Try each documented entry point. Use Settings and more > Screenshot, right-click the webpage and look for Screenshot, and press Ctrl+Shift+S. One route may be easier to find than another in your setup.
- Confirm which shortcut you need. Ctrl+Shift+S is the Edge feature. Windows logo key+Shift+S opens Windows Snipping Tool. If the second shortcut appears to work but does not offer a webpage-specific full-page capture, it is opening the Windows utility, not Edge Screenshot.
- Consider the device and browser configuration. Microsoft notes that feature availability and behavior can differ by device type, market and browser version. A feature described for one setup may not be visible on another.
- Ask about browser management if this is a managed device. Microsoft’s Edge policy documentation identifies the WebCaptureEnabled policy as relevant to the feature. If you use a managed browser and the usual routes are unavailable, an administrator may control whether it is enabled.
If none of the routes works, the evidence available in Microsoft’s feature and policy documentation does not establish a single universal cause for every missing Screenshot control. Device, market, browser version and managed policy are the relevant factors to check rather than assuming the old feature has been removed everywhere.
When the built-in Edge feature is enough
For a one-off capture of a webpage in the browser, Edge Screenshot is the direct option: open the feature from the menu, context menu or shortcut, then select a full-page or area capture. It is built into Edge, so this route does not require setting up a separate screenshot API.

A different approach is useful when screenshots need to be requested by code or an AI agent rather than made manually in a browser window. That is a separate workflow from finding Edge’s built-in feature.
