The default Windows PC location for the Ubisoft Connect launcher is C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launcher. That is not necessarily where your games or every save file live: their locations depend on your install settings, game, account, and store. Use the section for what you’re trying to find.
Default Ubisoft Connect folder
On Windows, the launcher is normally installed in:
C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game LauncherThis is a default, not a guaranteed location. You might have selected another drive or folder, and older installations may use a related Ubisoft Game Launcher directory under C:Program FilesUbisoft. The folder name may still say “Ubisoft Game Launcher” or “Uplay” in older guides and files. The default path is documented in Ubisoft troubleshooting guidance reproduced on Microsoft Q&A; the paths for client data are also listed by PCGamingWiki.
To open the installed folder without guessing:
- Right-click the Ubisoft Connect shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu and choose Open file location.
- If Windows opens a folder containing another shortcut, right-click that shortcut and choose Open file location again.
Alternatively, open Ubisoft Connect, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager, find the Ubisoft Connect process, and choose Open file location. The process name can vary by client version. You can also search File Explorer or Windows Search for upc.exe or Ubisoft Game Launcher.

There is no single game-install path that applies to every player. The location depends on the folder selected for downloads and on where the game was installed. A game bought through Steam or Epic may have its main files in that platform’s library, even though Ubisoft Connect is installed separately for account, authentication, or launching.

To check the location Ubisoft Connect uses for its game installs, open the client and go to Settings → Downloads. Look for Install location; use Browse to choose a different folder for future installations. The labels or layout can change between client versions. This setting identifies the client’s install location, but changing it does not necessarily move games already installed. For an existing game, check its properties or locate-game controls in Ubisoft Connect; for a Steam or Epic copy, check that store’s library controls. C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launchersavegames<account-ID>Replace the first part with your actual launcher folder if it is installed elsewhere. The account-specific folder may contain numbered or otherwise non-obvious folders for individual games, so do not assume a folder name identifies a game by itself. Not every game stores all of its progress there. A title may also keep local saves in Documents, Saved Games, %LOCALAPPDATA%, %APPDATA%, or its own game folder; arrangements can also differ for Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Store versions. Before reinstalling, changing accounts, or resolving a local-versus-cloud save prompt, copy the entire savegames folder somewhere safe and back up any game-specific save folders you know about. Cloud synchronization is useful, but it is not a substitute for a manual backup when progress matters.

Settings and cache locations
The documented client settings file is usually at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%Ubisoft Game Launchersettings.yml%LOCALAPPDATA% is a Windows shortcut to the current user’s Local AppData folder. Press Win+R, enter %localappdata%, and press Enter; then open Ubisoft Game Launcher. Each Windows user has a separate Local AppData folder. Do not use %appdata% for this file: that opens the Roaming AppData location instead.

C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game LaunchercacheOther folders you may see include logs, crash, savegames, and games. Contents vary by version and usage. The cache can include activation, configuration, and ownership data; it is distinct from the Local AppData folder. Deleting cache files is not the same as uninstalling a game, and clearing the cache is not a guaranteed fix for every client problem.

Clear the cache cautiously
- Exit Ubisoft Connect, including from its system-tray icon.
- Open Task Manager and check that no Ubisoft Connect process is still running.
- Open the launcher’s installation folder and rename
cachetocache.oldrather than deleting it immediately. - Start the client again. If it works normally, you can remove the renamed folder later.
Renaming gives you a fallback if the client needs something in the original folder. If the problem persists, renaming %LOCALAPPDATA%Ubisoft Game Launcher is sometimes used as a broader troubleshooting step, but it may reset local client data or preferences. Back up anything you need first, and do not change permissions on the entire Program Files folder just to remove a cache.

Before moving or uninstalling the launcher
Changing the Downloads install location is primarily a setting for game installs; it does not by itself relocate the launcher. Before uninstalling or reinstalling, close the client and back up:
savegamesfrom the Ubisoft Game Launcher folder;- any title-specific saves stored elsewhere;
%LOCALAPPDATA%Ubisoft Game Launchersettings.ymlif you want to preserve a copy of your settings;- logs or custom configuration files needed for troubleshooting, plus any manually installed mods.
Read uninstall prompts carefully. Troubleshooting instructions may offer an option to keep installed games or local saves, but do not assume that this preserves every game’s progress or entitlement. Ubisoft Connect may still be required to install, launch, or access a PC game, including some games bought through another store; the client’s role is described in Ubisoft’s terms of use.
If the default folder is missing
- Use Open file location on the Ubisoft Connect shortcut or its running process.
- Search Windows for
upc.exeorUbisoft Game Launcher. - Check whether the client is under a custom drive or folder rather than
C:Program Files (x86). - If looking for settings, open
%localappdata%for the Windows account currently signed in. - If the game came from Steam, Epic, or the Xbox app, check that platform’s library. Do not manually alter protected Microsoft Store or WindowsApps folders.
- Back up saves before reinstalling or removing folders.

These paths apply to a locally installed Windows PC client. Steam Deck or other Linux setups run through a compatibility environment such as Wine or Proton and store files in a different prefix. Console versions and cloud-gaming sessions do not expose the same Windows folder structure to the player; Ubisoft Connect is also available as a service beyond the Windows client, as Ubisoft’s Connect page explains.
