The key announcement deadlines have passed: the EFL said selections for matches through September 2026 would be announced by July 2, and selections through the weekend of January 8–11, 2027, by July 31. As of August 18, the published schedule lists four Birmingham City Championship games for live Sky Sports coverage. Sheffield United away has already been played; Wrexham away, Wolves at home and Derby away are next.

Birmingham City games currently listed for live Sky coverage
The EFL’s published fixture listing identifies the following Blues Championship matches. It does not establish that these are the only Birmingham selections through January, so check the official fixture pages for additions or amendments.

The cited listing identifies Sky Sports coverage but does not specify a named linear channel or confirm which matches will be shown on Sky Sports+ rather than a main channel. Check Sky’s listing nearer kick-off for the platform and channel details. EFL’s Sky Sports fixture and viewing information.

What were the EFL’s announcement deadlines?
The EFL set two dates for the 2026/27 broadcast selections:
- July 2, 2026: selections for matches played before the end of September.
- July 31, 2026: selections for live matches up to and including the weekend of January 8–11, 2027.
Those dates are deadlines for publishing selections, not a guarantee that the fixture calendar is permanently fixed. The January deadline also does not mean the four matches in the table are Birmingham’s complete list through that weekend. The EFL says it will broadcast more than 1,000 matches across the EFL, Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy during 2026/27, and Sky says every EFL club is expected to feature live more than 20 times. Those are league-wide figures, not a promise that every Blues match will be shown or a confirmed Birmingham match count. See the EFL’s 2026/27 season schedule and broadcast information.

Sky Sports and Sky Sports+ are not the same kind of listing
A game described as live on Sky Sports may be carried on a scheduled Sky Sports channel or made available as a stream through Sky Sports+. Sky Sports+ gives access to additional EFL coverage, including matches beyond the prominent individual broadcast slots. A stream can be live coverage without being nationally promoted or moved to a Friday, Saturday lunchtime, Saturday evening or Sunday slot.
Sky’s guide says the opening-weekend fixture Sheffield United v Birmingham City was selected for live coverage. It also says the other opening-weekend EFL fixtures were available live on Sky Sports+ at their standard Saturday kick-off times. That illustrates why “available live” and “moved for television” should not be treated as interchangeable. Check the individual fixture entry for its channel, platform and kick-off. Why a selection matters if you are going to the match
When a game is selected for a dedicated broadcast slot, its date or kick-off may move from the original schedule. A Saturday 3pm match, for example, may be rescheduled to Friday night, Saturday lunchtime, Saturday evening or Sunday. That can affect trains, coaches, hotel stays, pub screenings and supporter-club travel, as well as ticketing and hospitality arrangements for home fans.
Do not treat the date on an early fixture list as final until the broadcast selection and updated kick-off are clear. Nor should you assume that every subsequent change is caused by TV: cup commitments, international scheduling, policing or safety advice, clashes and postponements can also lead to changes. If you are booking travel, use refundable options where possible and confirm the fixture with the club before committing to non-refundable plans.

How to watch: UK, overseas and Blues+ viewers
UK viewers
Sky Sports is the UK broadcaster for live EFL football, with selected matches carried through its channels and Sky Sports+ streams. Sky’s app and fixture interface can help identify the channel or stream for an individual match. Subscription costs and plan features can change; check the current offer and confirm that it includes the relevant Sky Sports+ access before buying. If you only want occasional Blues games, compare a day or month option with a full subscription; regular EFL viewers may value broader season coverage more.
Viewers outside the UK
Overseas rights differ by territory, so UK Sky access is not a universal international solution. The EFL identifies CBS Sports as having the broadest EFL distribution in the United States, with at least 250 EFL matches per season under the cited arrangement. That does not guarantee that every Birmingham City game will be included. Check the broadcaster and match availability for your country.

Blues+ and domestic streaming
Do not assume Blues+ is an alternative way to watch a domestic match selected for Sky. Birmingham City’s available support guidance on Blues+ is from the previous season: it said domestic video streaming was unavailable for matches covered by the Sky agreement, while overseas access was subject to match details. That older policy is not confirmation of 2026/27 arrangements. Check the club’s current Blues+ and match-specific information before relying on it.
What about Birmingham’s Carabao Cup match?
The Championship list and the Carabao Cup are separate. The EFL competition page lists Swansea City v Birmingham City for Saturday, August 8, at 3pm, but the information available here does not confirm that this particular tie was selected for live Sky coverage. Do not infer TV selection from the fixture listing alone; check a direct broadcast announcement. EFL Carabao Cup fixtures and competition information.
Where to check for changes
- Check Birmingham City’s official website, fixture information and matchday communications.
- Look for the latest EFL TV selections.
- Check Sky Sports’ live football listings for the named channel or stream.
- Use the Sky Sports app or Sky Sports+ fixture interface to confirm how the match is being carried.
- Before booking travel, read the club’s latest ticketing emails and fixture notices.
Third-party fixture apps can be convenient, but the club, EFL and broadcaster are the places to verify a late amendment.
