Bloo is an AI-powered gaming persona created by Dutch YouTuber Jordi van den Bussche, better known as Kwebbelkop. But the channel is not an autonomous AI gamer: van den Bussche and his team still puppeteer the character and direct production, while AI assists with selected tasks such as dubbing and thumbnails. The distinction matters. “Remove the human” was the creator’s stated ambition, not a description of a human-free channel.
Who is Bloo?
Bloo is a blue-haired, cartoon-like gaming character built around the YouTube channel of Jordi van den Bussche, who rose to prominence as Kwebbelkop. The character gives the channel a recognizable on-screen identity without requiring the creator to appear as himself. In a July 2025 report, Futurism described van den Bussche as a Dutch creator whose earlier career had amassed roughly 15 million followers across platforms.
Van den Bussche has framed Bloo as a way to reduce the workload and personal demands of conventional creator life, including the pressure to be camera-ready. The project also explores how much of an entertainment brand can be built around a reusable digital character rather than a creator’s visible face. That is different from proving that a machine can independently become a gaming creator.

The phrase “remove the human” captures van den Bussche’s reported long-term ambition: use AI to take over more of the work if it can perform that work better, faster, or more cheaply than people. It should not be read as evidence that the human has already disappeared from Bloo’s videos.

Futurism reported that van den Bussche and his team still puppeteered Bloo. AI was used for selected production work, including voice dubbing into other languages and thumbnails. The creator also named ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude among tools used in the project, but the report did not specify which tool performed which task. It said fully automated videos had been tested, but the technology was not yet considered good enough for permanent use.
That makes the most accurate description a human-directed gaming channel with an AI-assisted character and production workflow—not a self-operating YouTuber. The available reporting does not establish that AI independently chooses games, plays GTA V, creates every part of each video, or publishes and manages the channel without human oversight.

Avatar, VTuber, AI-assisted channel: what’s the difference?
- AI avatar: A digital character whose design, voice, or animation may be generated or assisted by AI. The term alone says little about who is performing or controlling it.
- VTuber: A performer who presents through a digital avatar. A human commonly supplies the voice, performance, or real-time movement.
- AI-assisted channel: A production where people remain responsible for direction and oversight, while AI helps with particular tasks such as drafting, dubbing, or image creation.
- Autonomous AI creator: A system that independently decides what to make, performs or captures the content, produces and edits it, publishes it, and handles audience interaction with little or no human intervention.
Based on the available account, Bloo fits the AI-avatar and AI-assisted-channel descriptions. Its human puppeteering also makes the VTuber comparison relevant. The evidence does not support calling it an autonomous AI creator.

What the reported workflow does—and doesn’t—tell us

“AI-generated” can cover very different amounts of work, from producing a draft or an image to operating an entire creative pipeline. In Bloo’s case, the published account identifies selected AI-assisted functions and continuing human involvement. It does not provide a complete, video-by-video production breakdown, so it would be inaccurate to assume that every script, gameplay sequence, voice performance, edit, and upload is automated.

A familiar gaming format with a different on-screen identity
One example cited in the report is “Weakest To STRONGEST SHARK EVER In GTA 5!” The title signals a familiar gaming-YouTube formula: a challenge that escalates, exaggerated transformations, gameplay footage, and a colorful fictional persona. The format is not new; the notable change is the production model and the character viewers see at its center.
This distinction also helps explain why view counts alone cannot show that AI caused a channel’s success. A popular video may benefit from a strong premise, recognizable packaging, editing, an established audience, or other conventional creator skills. The reporting supplies an example of Bloo’s content, not evidence isolating AI as the reason it performed well.

How large was the channel?
Futurism reported on July 8, 2025, that Bloo had 2.57 million subscribers and more than 800 million views. It also reported that the shark-themed GTA V video had more than 11 million views, and attributed a claim of seven-figure advertising income to van den Bussche. These are figures and claims reported at that time—not verified current totals. The income figure was not presented as an independently audited account, and none of these numbers by itself establishes how much work AI performed.
Why build a channel this way?
The model has plausible attractions for creators. A reusable character can keep a consistent visual identity without putting the creator’s face on camera. AI-assisted dubbing may make localization easier to attempt, while generated thumbnails or language-model help may speed up parts of ideation and production. A character can also be treated as a distinct entertainment brand rather than as a direct extension of the creator’s personal identity.

Those are potential advantages, not measured results established by the report. AI can reduce or redistribute some tasks without eliminating the work around them. A human team may still need to choose ideas, supervise gameplay, guide the character, revise scripts, check translations, edit, review assets, manage the channel, and handle commercial and audience relationships. The available evidence does not give a full accounting of Bloo’s labor or production costs.
What remains difficult about full automation?
A complete autonomous channel would need to do much more than generate an avatar or a script. It would have to select ideas that suit an audience, produce coherent and entertaining gameplay, maintain a consistent character, make accurate and appealing visuals, edit the result, and publish it reliably. Then it would need to respond appropriately when content misses the mark. Van den Bussche’s reported decision to test automation but not rely on it permanently is a useful reminder that a demonstrative AI feature is not the same as a dependable production system.
There are broader quality and trust risks for any AI-heavy channel: repetitive videos, inconsistent characterization, awkward dubbing, misleading thumbnails, or errors that slip through when production outpaces review. Rights and ownership questions can also arise around generated material. These are risks of the model, not claims that the cited reporting documented them on Bloo’s channel. Viewers may also care whether a character is presented transparently as fictional or AI-assisted; the available report does not settle how Bloo’s audience understood or reacted to its production methods.

Bloo illustrates the experiment, but the available reporting does not establish the answers.
What Bloo actually demonstrates
Bloo is best understood as a human creator trying to make gaming entertainment less dependent on his visible, in-the-moment performance. The avatar is artificial; the production is AI-assisted; the channel, as described in the 2025 report, is still directed and puppeteered by people. The “remove the human” idea describes where van den Bussche wants the technology to go, not what the evidence shows it has already achieved.
