Yes—selected Wacom Intuos pen tablets work with compatible Android phones and tablets. Wired use requires USB OTG, while Bluetooth is documented for the CTL-4100WL and CTL-6100WL on Android 14 or later. Android provides pen input rather than the full Windows or Mac experience: ExpressKeys are not supported, orientation can affect mapping, and the drawing app must handle pressure correctly.

What Android support actually means

An Intuos is a pen tablet, not an Android computer or a pen display. You draw on its surface while viewing the pointer, strokes or handwriting on the connected phone or tablet screen. It has no built-in Android operating system and does not work independently.

Wacom’s current product information describes the Intuos as a pressure-sensitive tablet with a battery-free Wacom Pen 4K. The listed active areas are 6.0 × 3.7 inches for Small and 8.5 × 5.3 inches for Medium, with 4,096 pressure levels. Those hardware capabilities do not guarantee that every Android app will use pressure; the app must support Android stylus or pointer input.

Android compatibility is also separate from desktop compatibility. Do not install the regular Wacom desktop driver on Android; Wacom provides that driver for Windows and Mac. Android handles the tablet through its own input system and the connection requirements documented by Wacom: Wacom Intuos product information.

Which Intuos models work with Android?

Wacom currently lists these four Intuos models for Android use through a compatible OTG setup. The two wireless versions have an additional Bluetooth option on Android 14 and later.

Model Size and connection Android connection Best fit
CTL-4100 Small, wired USB through a compatible OTG adapter Lowest-cost entry and occasional drawing
CTL-4100WL Small, wireless USB OTG; Bluetooth on Android 14+ devices with Bluetooth LE Compact wireless travel setup
CTL-6100 Medium, wired USB through a compatible OTG adapter Larger surface without Bluetooth
CTL-6100WL Medium, wireless USB OTG; Bluetooth on Android 14+ devices with Bluetooth LE More room for illustration on a larger Android screen

These are the standard Intuos models, not every product carrying the Intuos name. Wacom states that the Intuos Pro 2025 is not compatible with Android or ChromeOS: Wacom’s Intuos Pro 2025 requirements.

Check your Android device before buying

Wacom maintains a device compatibility list and notes that additional devices, especially many running Android 14 or later, may also work. That is not a promise that every Android phone or tablet is compatible: Wacom’s Android compatibility list.

  • For Bluetooth: use CTL-4100WL or CTL-6100WL with Android 14 or later and Bluetooth LE.
  • Check orientation: Android 8–13 commonly has mapping problems in landscape mode; Android 14 and later supports distortion-free input in all orientations according to Wacom.
  • Check the app: drawing, handwriting, annotation, vector, remote-desktop and browser whiteboard apps can differ in pointer and pressure support.
  • Check firmware: update the Intuos from a supported Windows or Mac computer before troubleshooting Android.

Wacom recommends an OTG checker app from Google Play as an initial test. Treat that result as preliminary and compare it with Wacom’s device list: Wacom’s OTG guidance.

How to connect an Intuos by USB

  1. Confirm that the Android device and Intuos model meet Wacom’s compatibility requirements.
  2. Verify USB OTG support.
  3. Choose an OTG adapter that matches the Android device’s USB-C or Micro-B port and the USB connection on the Intuos cable. Wacom shows adapter examples here: OTG adapter guidance.
  4. Using Windows or Mac, install any available Intuos firmware update before connecting to Android.
  5. Plug the OTG adapter into the Android device, then connect the Intuos USB cable to the adapter.
  6. Open a drawing, handwriting or annotation app. Test pointer movement first, then test pressure with a brush whose size or opacity visibly changes.
  7. If the pointer is missing or inaccurate, disconnect and reconnect both the cable and adapter. If movement remains distorted, switch the Intuos mode manually as described in Wacom’s troubleshooting instructions.

Wacom’s Android troubleshooting page covers firmware, adapter compatibility, reconnection and mode changes: Wacom Intuos Android troubleshooting.

How Bluetooth works on Android

Bluetooth is not available for the wired CTL-4100 or CTL-6100. It is documented for the CTL-4100WL and CTL-6100WL on Android 14 or later devices that support Bluetooth LE: Wacom’s Bluetooth guidance.

  1. Turn on Bluetooth in Android settings.

  3. Select the tablet if it appears in the Android Bluetooth device list.
  4. Open a compatible app and test movement and pressure.
  5. If pairing fails, try the wired OTG connection. A successful wired test helps separate a Bluetooth problem from a tablet, firmware or app problem.

The exact pairing control and Android menu wording can vary by model and handset, so use the current manual for the specific tablet rather than assuming a universal button sequence.

What works—and what does not

Function Android status
Pen movement Supported on compatible devices
Pressure sensitivity Hardware supports it; the Android app must also support pressure
Battery-free pen Works as part of the Intuos hardware
USB connection Requires a compatible OTG adapter and device
Bluetooth CTL-4100WL and CTL-6100WL on Android 14+ with Bluetooth LE
ExpressKeys Not supported by Android OS
Desktop driver customization Not equivalent to Windows or Mac control-panel features
Landscape mapping Most reliable on Android 14+; Android 8–13 can be incompatible in landscape
Standalone operation Not supported; a host phone, tablet or computer is required

Wacom explicitly says Intuos ExpressKeys are not supported by Android: ExpressKeys and Android. Plan to use on-screen controls or a separate Android-compatible keyboard instead of relying on the tablet’s shortcut keys.

Fix common problems

The tablet is not detected

  • Confirm OTG support and use the correct adapter.
  • Check that the cable and adapter are fully seated.
  • Update firmware on Windows or Mac.
  • Reconnect both ends and test another compatible Android device if possible.

The cursor is offset or stretched

Test portrait orientation first. On Android 8–13, landscape coordinate handling can cause a physically straight stroke to appear displaced or distorted. Switch the Intuos mode manually and prefer Android 14 or later when orientation-independent input matters. See Wacom’s mapping explanation.

The pen works but pressure does not

The connection may be fine while the app ignores pressure. Test a pressure-sensitive brush in another compatible drawing app and verify that the brush visibly changes size or opacity.

Shortcut keys do nothing

This is expected on Android because ExpressKeys are not supported, rather than evidence that the tablet is defective.

Bluetooth pairing fails

Recheck the model, Android 14 requirement and Bluetooth LE support. Confirm that the tablet is powered as required, then use USB OTG to test firmware and basic pen operation.

Which model makes sense?

Choose the wired CTL-4100

It is the simplest budget choice when your phone or tablet supports OTG and a cable is acceptable. A U.S. Wacom direct-store price observed on August 18, 2026 was $39.95; prices, tax, shipping and retailer availability can change: Wacom’s U.S. tablet store.

Choose the CTL-4100WL

This is the compact wireless option for Android 14-or-later devices with Bluetooth LE. The same store showed a $69.95 sale price and $79.95 regular price on August 18, 2026. Keep wired OTG available as a diagnostic fallback.

Choose the CTL-6100WL

The Medium active area is better suited to sustained illustration or a larger Android tablet. The observed U.S. direct-store price was $129.95 on August 18, 2026, but portability and cost are lower than the Small model.

Consider something other than Intuos

Choose a screen tablet if you need to draw directly on a display, or a standalone Android drawing tablet if you need a self-contained computer. Wacom’s One Pen Tablet line is another first-party comparison, but its Android rules differ; verify the exact model before buying. Do not choose Intuos Pro 2025 for Android because Wacom lists it as incompatible.

Bottom line

For an OTG-capable Android phone, the wired CTL-4100 is the least expensive route. Choose CTL-4100WL for compact Bluetooth use or CTL-6100WL for more drawing space, provided the device runs Android 14 or later and supports Bluetooth LE. In every case, treat Android as pen-input compatibility—not desktop parity—and verify the phone, orientation and app before assuming the workflow will match Windows or Mac.
