Veracode appointed Anthony Barkley chief strategy officer and Diana Bushard general counsel on September 10, 2025, adding commercial-strategy and governance experience as the application-security company pursues what it calls its next growth chapter. As of August 18, 2026, Veracode still lists both executives in those roles. The appointments add leadership capacity; they do not, on their own, announce an acquisition, IPO, restructuring or financial target.
What Veracode announced
Veracode named Barkley chief strategy officer and Bushard general counsel in an announcement dated September 10, 2025. ChannelPro/ITPro published its report five days later, on September 15. Veracode framed the hires as support for its next growth phase. Veracode’s newsroom and the ChannelPro/ITPro report describe the appointments and their stated responsibilities.
Barkley’s brief: connect strategy with customer outcomes
Veracode says Barkley’s remit includes customer engagement, retention strategies and go-to-market execution. The announcement also describes work leading cross-functional initiatives and scaling strategic programs. In practical terms, that puts his role at the intersection of product direction, commercial execution and customer outcomes: a broader platform matters only if customers adopt it, renew, and can use it to address security risk.

The available information establishes Barkley’s strategy and commercial remit, but not specific reporting lines. It does not show that he directly owns sales, marketing, product or customer success.
Bushard’s brief: support growth with legal and risk expertise
As general counsel, Bushard is positioned to align legal and risk strategy with business priorities and support governance, commercial transactions, compliance and regulatory matters. Veracode’s biography describes more than 25 years of experience across technology and financial-services organizations, spanning legal work and responsibilities in areas including HR, regulatory compliance and business development.
That experience is relevant to an application-security company operating across enterprise procurement, data protection, software-supply-chain concerns and international markets. Customers may require detailed contractual security commitments and compliance information, while partnerships and business expansion bring their own legal and governance demands. These are reasons a growing vendor may strengthen its legal function—not evidence that a specific lawsuit, regulation or deal prompted this hire.
Rank #2
Bushard’s background includes mergers and acquisitions and commercial transactions, but the available announcement does not establish that M&A is a formal part of her operating remit. Nor does it disclose a transaction that the appointment was intended to support.
Why the two hires matter together
The appointments address complementary needs. Barkley’s stated focus is commercial execution: customer engagement, retention and go-to-market activity. Bushard’s is governance and legal support: helping the company manage risk and conduct business as it grows. Together, those functions could help Veracode coordinate a broader product proposition with customer adoption and the controls required to serve enterprise buyers.
That interpretation fits Veracode’s wider positioning. The company describes its platform as extending beyond individual code-scanning tools to application risk management across the software-development lifecycle and supply chain. Its company overview lists capabilities including static and dynamic analysis, software-composition analysis, container security, application-security posture management, malicious-package detection and penetration testing. Veracode has also discussed its application-security posture management positioning.
More product breadth can make strategy and coordination more important: buyers need to understand how capabilities fit together, and customers need processes to prioritize and remediate findings. But the appointments should not be presented as the cause of product announcements or as proof that the broader platform has achieved particular commercial results.
Part of a broader 2025 leadership build-out
The hires followed another senior appointment earlier in 2025. Veracode says Simon Adell joined as CFO in June, leading financial operations, strategic planning, reporting and growth initiatives. By September, the company had added leadership in finance, strategy and legal governance. That sequence suggests executive reinforcement across several functions, rather than a single isolated personnel change; it does not establish a formal restructuring.
Veracode’s leadership roster lists Brian Roche as CEO and continues to list Barkley as chief strategy officer and Bushard as general counsel as of August 18, 2026. The company’s descriptions of its platform and developments are its own positioning and announcements, not independent validation of market standing or customer outcomes.

What customers and channel partners should watch
For customers, the practical test is whether a wider application-risk proposition translates into clearer prioritization, usable integrations and support for fixing issues—not simply a longer feature list. Barkley’s stated customer and go-to-market remit is relevant to that question, but the appointment itself does not guarantee a change in product delivery or service.
For MSPs, MSSPs and other channel partners, the announcement does not disclose changes to partner programs, incentives, distribution or channel strategy. It also does not specify whether Barkley’s customer-retention work includes those partner routes. Partners should therefore treat any channel impact as an open question, not an announced change.

What the announcement does not establish
- No IPO, sale, acquisition, funding event or restructuring was announced in connection with the appointments.
- No revenue, profitability, valuation or customer-growth target was disclosed.
- No specific legal dispute or regulatory event was identified as the reason for Bushard’s hire.
- No change to Veracode’s pricing or channel program was announced.
- No customer, partner, investor or competitor reactions were included in the cited announcement coverage.
“Next growth chapter” is the company’s framing. The defensible takeaway is narrower: Veracode strengthened its strategy, commercial-execution and legal leadership as it presented a broader application-risk-management proposition. Whether that produces measurable growth or changes the experience for customers and partners remains to be seen.
