The Ulefone Armor 33 Pro has a genuine 3.4-inch rear touchscreen, not just a notification strip. You can switch operation to it or mirror the main display, making rear-camera framing and two-sided viewing its clearest uses. Ulefone’s published modes do not establish that it can run separate apps on both screens at once, so it is better understood as a switchable or mirrored interface than as two independent phones.
Rear-screen specifications
Ulefone specifies the Armor 33 Pro’s rear panel as a 3.4-inch IPS LCD with 412 × 960 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, peak brightness of 600 nits, five-point multitouch and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. The panel is unusually tall and narrow, more like a slim portrait display than a small square status screen; apps laid out for a conventional phone may not use its shape gracefully.

There is conflicting official store copy that calls the displays “Dual AMOLED.” The detailed display specification identifies the rear screen as IPS LCD, so that is the safer specification to rely on. See Ulefone’s Armor 33 Pro specifications and store listing.
For context, the front display is specified as 6.95 inches, 1080 × 2460, 120Hz and 700 nits peak. The rear is therefore a smaller, lower-resolution, slower panel; 600 nits is a claimed peak, not proof of comfortable direct-sunlight viewing.

How the four display modes work
Ulefone describes four configurations. Their names and behavior may vary with software version, so check the display settings on the specific unit and consult the Armor-series manual index if labels differ.
- Dual Screen Intelligence Display: Switch between front and rear operation; only one screen is active at a time.
- Main Screen Display: Use the front display while the rear display is unavailable.
- Sub-screen Display: Use the rear display while the main display is unavailable.
- Dual Screen Mirroring: Show the same content on both screens. Only one screen is touch-enabled at a time, so this is not two people independently controlling the phone.
The published description supports using the rear panel as the active display and mirroring the front display. It does not establish simultaneous, independent Android sessions, a desktop-style extended display, a separate rear launcher, or two touch-active screens.
Switching from the front screen to the rear
- Set the phone to Dual Screen Intelligence Display.
- On the currently active display, double-click the floating icon at the right edge.
- Flip the phone to the other side within five seconds.
- Continue on the newly active display.
In mirroring mode, select which screen should accept touch input if needed. Ulefone also describes double-tap wake and sleep on the touch-enabled screen; double-tap-to-sleep is limited to the home and lock screens.

If the rear display does not respond, check that the phone is not in Main Screen Display mode and that the rear panel is selected as active or touch-enabled. In intelligence mode, repeat the double-click and complete the flip within five seconds. For mirroring, select the intended touch screen. Remove moisture and test without gloves or a thick, poorly fitted protector; the interface may also be harder to use with gloves. If settings or labels differ, check the device’s current software and manual rather than assuming every build behaves identically.

Where the rear screen is most useful
Rear-camera selfies and group photos
This is the feature’s strongest case. Ulefone specifically promotes the rear display as a preview for self-portraits and group pictures using the main camera. Instead of guessing what the rear-facing camera is framing, you can see the composition on the back of the phone. That can also help with equipment photos or field records where the rear camera is preferable to the front camera. The benefit is framing; the available specifications do not confirm which camera controls, focus options or exposure adjustments are available from the rear display. A stable surface or mount can make the setup more practical.

Showing a colleague the same content
Mirroring can let someone on the opposite side see a map, photo, image or instruction without turning the phone around. It is a viewing convenience, not shared two-person control: only one screen is touch-enabled in the specified mirroring mode.

A second display may help when a vehicle cradle, workbench or equipment setup makes the front screen inconvenient to reach or see. That is an inference from the switching modes, not a verified mount feature. Check that a mount leaves the rear screen visible and does not press against it; compatibility with particular mounts is not established.

Media, maps and occasional access
In principle, mirrored Android content can appear on the rear screen. In practice, its 3.4-inch size, narrow proportions and 60Hz refresh rate make it a poor substitute for the main display for long video sessions, detailed navigation or gaming. It may be handy for a quick glance or a particular mounting arrangement, but those are secondary uses rather than the main reason to choose the phone.
What the rear screen is not
Ulefone’s published description does not verify independent apps on the two displays, simultaneous touch on both, an always-on notification dashboard, persistent customizable widgets, a separate app store, universal app compatibility, external-monitor video output or independently adjustable rear brightness. Nor does it promise that every app will rotate or reflow for the tall, narrow panel. Treat those as unanswered questions, not features to assume.
Apps designed for the front display may appear cropped, letterboxed or awkwardly scaled on the rear screen, or may not rotate as expected. That is a compatibility risk rather than a documented universal failure; Ulefone does not publish a comprehensive app-compatibility list. Test the specific apps and tasks you depend on.

The cost of carrying two screens
The Armor 33 Pro measures 185.5 × 85.5 × 34mm and weighs about 776.5g, according to Ulefone; its store page warns it is over 777g. That is a major part of the decision, not a minor rugged-phone compromise. It is much closer to carrying a small field device than a normal pocketable handset. A double-click-and-flip interaction can also be awkward while the phone is mounted, cabled, held one-handed, kept steady for a photo or used in work gloves. These are practical risks implied by the size and procedure, not a claim that switching fails at a particular rate.

The rear screen adds another exposed surface that can be scratched or damaged, as well as another display that may use power when active. Actual battery impact and endurance depend on brightness, network, GPS, camera and other use; Ulefone’s 25,500mAh battery specification does not guarantee a particular runtime. The main display’s stated peak brightness is 700 nits versus 600 nits for the rear, and neither manufacturer figure alone establishes real-world sunlight readability.
Specification pages are inconsistent elsewhere too: the detailed global listing and launch material give a 25,500mAh battery, while some store copy says 22,500mAh. The global page lists Android 15, but a UK regional listing still shows Android 14. Confirm battery and software details for the market and software build you are buying rather than assuming every regional listing is aligned. The retrieved material does not establish a long-term update policy.
Rugged ratings are not a license to ignore care
Ulefone advertises IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810H ratings. These refer to specified testing conditions; they do not make the phone immune to every drop, impact or exposure, and water resistance may decline with wear. Ulefone warns that accessories are not water-resistant, liquid damage is not covered under warranty, plugs must be tightly fitted before water exposure, and the charging port must be dry before charging. Do not charge the phone while wet. The ratings should not be read as a separate guarantee that the rear screen can be used underwater.
Should you choose the Armor 33 Pro for its rear display?

If the choice is between rear interaction and illumination, Ulefone’s Armor 33 is the alternative in the same family built around a large rear light rather than this touchscreen. The Armor 33 Pro’s rear panel is distinctive, but its strongest case is specific: see or operate the phone from the back, especially when framing a shot with the main camera. It is not a substitute for a second independent Android phone.
