The Udemy Cyber Monday promotion in the original headline has ended. It was a time-limited offer tied to Cyber Monday 2024, which fell on December 2, 2024. The reported prices—$14 for a web-development bootcamp and $20 for a Photoshop course—were historical sale prices, not current offers.
Udemy regularly runs other promotions, but shoppers should verify the price, course version, syllabus and refund terms at checkout rather than rely on the old “up to 85 percent off” claim.

The course was reported at $14, compared with a stated regular price of $120. Its listed curriculum included HTML and CSS, JavaScript, Node, React, PostgreSQL, Web3 and decentralized applications.
The 2024 listing advertised approximately 61 hours of on-demand video, seven coding exercises, 194 downloadable resources and a certificate of completion. At the time, it was listed with a 4.7-star rating and nearly 1.5 million learners.
Those details can change. A course containing a year in its title may be updated, renamed, replaced or allowed to become outdated, so check the current course page before buying.

The listing described approximately 22.5 hours of video, downloadable resources and assignments. Its reported 4.7-star rating and approximately 170,000 learners were also snapshots from late 2024, not permanent specifications.
How Udemy purchases work
Individual course purchases
An individual purchase gives access to the course you bought, rather than to Udemy’s entire catalog. Udemy describes this access as lifetime access, but its lifetime-access policy includes important conditions: your account must remain in good standing, and Udemy must continue to hold a license for the course. Lifetime access is therefore not an absolute guarantee that every course will remain on the platform forever.

Personal Plan
Udemy’s Personal Plan provides access to a curated collection of roughly 26,000 courses from a broader catalog of more than 250,000 courses. It does not include every course on Udemy.
Subscription access continues while the subscription is active. If you cancel, you generally lose access to subscription-only content after the billing period ends. A separately purchased individual course remains governed by its own purchase terms. Udemy’s subscription documentation explains the distinction.

Udemy’s current pricing pages display a general individual-course range of about $19.99 to $199.99 before promotional variation. Actual prices depend on the course, market and promotion.

- Look at the last update date. This matters especially for AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, JavaScript frameworks and other fast-changing subjects.
- Check the exact course version. Confirm the language, framework, software edition or certification objective matches what you need.
- Read recent written reviews. A high overall rating can hide reports of outdated lessons, broken downloads or missing projects.
- Preview several lessons. Use the previews to judge the instructor’s pace, explanations and audio quality.
- Inspect the practical work. Projects, exercises, labs, quizzes and practice tests are generally more useful than a long video count alone.
- Review prerequisites. Some courses assume prior programming, mathematics, design or software knowledge.
- Compare the final checkout price. Udemy says prices can vary by country, and prices in its mobile apps may differ from prices on Udemy.com.
- Check Personal Plan availability. If the course is included and you plan to take several courses, a subscription may be more economical. If it is not included, an individual purchase may be necessary.
- Check the access and refund terms. Do not assume that an individual-course refund policy also applies to a subscription.
Refund considerations
Eligible individual course purchases can generally be refunded within 30 days, subject to restrictions. Some transactions may be refunded as Udemy credits rather than cash. Do not automatically apply that 30-day rule to Personal Plan subscriptions. Udemy says subscriptions purchased through Udemy.com do not carry the same 30-day satisfaction guarantee, except where required by applicable law. The company’s subscription billing FAQ contains the relevant limitations.
Refund requests generally cannot be submitted directly through the mobile app. The correct process depends on how the purchase was made.
Udemy versus other learning platforms
Udemy is often a good fit for a low-cost, self-paced course on one specific skill. It is less suitable if you need live mentoring, formal accreditation, structured university instruction or a guaranteed professional certification.
- Coursera may be a better choice for structured courses, professional certificates and university- or employer-backed learning.
- LinkedIn Learning is suited to concise workplace, business-software and professional-development lessons.
- Pluralsight focuses more heavily on technical skills, assessments and developer or IT learning paths.
- edX is better suited to academic-style courses and institution-associated programs.
- Official certification providers are preferable when the goal is a recognized certification exam rather than general instruction.
Bottom line
The Udemy Cyber Monday offer in the original headline was a December 2024 promotion and is no longer actionable. The reported $14 and $20 prices, course statistics and “up to 85 percent off” claim should be treated as historical information.
For a future Udemy sale, compare the current checkout price with the course’s update date, syllabus, recent reviews, practical assignments and access terms. Choose an individual course for one clearly defined skill; consider Personal Plan only if the courses you want are included and you expect to study enough to justify an ongoing subscription.
