The correct update method depends on your exact Hammerhead model. Supported True Wireless models generally update through the Razer Audio app, while V3 HyperSpeed, V3 X HyperSpeed and some console variants use model-specific Windows firmware updaters. Identify the complete RZ12 model number before connecting anything or downloading firmware.
Identify your exact Hammerhead model first
“Hammerhead” covers several generations, wireless systems and console editions. Check the product box, purchase record or the underside of the charging case for an RZ12- model number. Never choose an updater solely because its name contains “Hammerhead” or “HyperSpeed.”

Use Razer’s Audio App support page and the product’s Drivers & Downloads section to confirm the current procedure.
Prepare before starting
- Charge both earbuds and the charging case.
- Disconnect the earbuds from other phones, tablets, consoles and PCs.
- Use a stable internet connection for a mobile update.
- Install or update Razer Audio from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Allow requested permissions, including location access when required for discovery. Razer notes that compatibility can be limited on some HyperOS phones.
- For a Windows updater, connect a laptop to AC power, save open work, close other programs and use the specified USB cable directly into the PC rather than an unreliable hub.
- Do not close the app, remove the earbuds, unplug a cable, or interrupt a firmware updater while it is writing firmware.
Update supported models with the Razer Audio app
Razer documents this route for supported Bluetooth-connected products, including the True Wireless 2nd Generation, True Wireless Pro and Pro HyperSpeed. The app also exposes model-dependent battery, EQ, gesture and other controls.

- Install or update Razer Audio from the official Razer instructions.
- Power on the earbuds and put them into Bluetooth pairing mode using the model’s manual.
- Ensure they are not connected to another mobile device.
- Open Razer Audio and select the Hammerhead model if prompted.
- Grant location or other permissions the app requests.
- Wait for the product control screen to load completely.
- Tap the firmware-update notification on the device’s main screen.
- Follow every on-screen instruction until the app reports completion. Keep the phone nearby and do not interrupt the transfer.
- Reconnect the earbuds and test audio from both sides.
- If the notification does not appear, the product may already be current, unsupported by the app, or not fully discovered; use the troubleshooting steps below rather than installing another model’s file.
Razer’s model pages repeat this flow for the True Wireless 2nd Generation, True Wireless Pro and Pro HyperSpeed.
Update Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed (RZ12-0561) on Windows
V3 HyperSpeed uses a dedicated Windows updater and has two separate stages: the wireless dongle, then the earbuds and charging case. Razer listed updater v1.3.6 r1, released July 21, 2026, with a general bug fix on its support page.
- Download the updater from Razer’s V3 HyperSpeed instructions.
- Plug the laptop into wall power, save files and close other applications.
- Run the updater and approve the Windows User Account Control prompt.
- Click NEXT.
- Connect the wireless dongle to the PC.
- Click UPDATE and wait for the dongle process to finish. Do not disconnect it.
- Click NEXT when prompted.
- Put both earbuds in the charging case and close the lid firmly.
- Do not put the wireless dongle inside the charging case.
- Connect the case to the PC with the included USB cable.
- Click UPDATE again and wait for the earbud/case stage to finish.
- Click CLOSE only after completion.
Update Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed (RZ12-0562)
V3 X HyperSpeed has its own Windows updater. Razer lists version v1.1.8_r2, released April 9, 2026, with general bug fixes. Download only from the V3 X HyperSpeed support page.

- Run the model-specific Windows updater.
- Connect the charging case by USB as instructed.
- Remove the earbuds from the case and place them in your ears.
- If required, activate HyperSpeed mode by tapping one earbud three times.
- Run the earbud update and wait for it to finish.
- Allow the case to restart.
- Run the case update, then close the updater after it reports completion.
PlayStation, Xbox and Meta Quest 3 editions
Platform variants do not share one universal firmware file. Razer’s listed versions were:

The Meta Quest 3 support page lists Razer Audio and a Razer Headset Pairing Utility, but a current dedicated firmware version is not established here. Follow that product page’s Drivers & Downloads instructions and do not confuse a pairing utility with a firmware updater.

Confirm that the update worked
- The app or updater no longer offers the same update.
- The displayed firmware version, where available, matches the exact model’s current Razer support listing.
- Both earbuds reconnect and produce audio.
- The wireless dongle reconnects to the intended platform.
- ANC, Gaming Mode, EQ, gestures and platform-specific wireless features still operate.
Firmware screens differ by model, so do not assume every Hammerhead exposes its version in the same menu.
If Razer Audio cannot find the earbuds
- Confirm that your exact model is supported by Razer Audio.
- Turn Bluetooth off and on, then put the earbuds back into pairing mode.
- Disconnect the earbuds from every other phone or tablet.
- Grant location access and other requested permissions.
- Update the phone’s operating system and Bluetooth software where applicable.
- Force-close and reopen Razer Audio.
- Remove the Hammerhead from the phone’s Bluetooth list and pair again through the app.
- Use the model-specific factory reset only after ordinary reconnection fails.
- Open the app and pair again after the reset.
HyperOS devices may have limited app compatibility according to Razer; trying another supported phone can distinguish a phone-discovery problem from an earbud problem.

Case, charging and one-earbud problems
Earbuds appear connected while inside the case
Razer says this can happen when the case lacks enough power to charge the earbuds; a blinking red case LED is a warning sign. Charge the case, reseat both earbuds, clean the charging contacts, close the lid and wait before reconnecting. For cleaning guidance, see the True Wireless Pro support page.

Only one earbud produces audio
For models whose support pages specify this gesture, place both earbuds in the case for five seconds, open the case, then tap and hold both earbuds for four seconds to enter pairing mode. Tap four times on both earbuds, holding the final tap for two seconds, until both emit a tone. This gesture is model-specific; verify it on your product page before using it.
When a Windows updater fails or detects nothing
- Verify the updater and RZ12 number match exactly.
- Use the included cable and a direct USB port.
- Follow the requested case state precisely; do not improvise with the lid.
- Seat charged earbuds correctly in the case.
- Keep the dongle outside the case when the V3 HyperSpeed instructions say so.
- Close Synapse or other Razer utilities if the updater requests it.
- Wait for the first attempt to exit completely before trying again.
- Restart the PC, reconnect the dongle and re-pair if the updater reports success but the connection problem remains.
Never substitute a file from another Hammerhead generation. If repeated direct-USB attempts fail, use the applicable Razer support page rather than a third-party firmware site.

When firmware is not the right fix
An update cannot repair a physically damaged earbud, failed case battery or USB port, water or chemical damage, blocked acoustic mesh, or a dongle that is absent from multiple computers. Clean contacts with a cotton bud and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol where Razer permits, and let everything dry completely. If the fault remains after cleaning, charging, reset and re-pairing, use Razer Support and warranty service before considering replacement.
