The Trivoly 3 was a small, screenless disc designed to sit beneath a traditional watch and add selected phone-connected functions. A June 2020 feature described it as a way to keep wearing a mechanical or conventional watch while using gestures for notifications, music, fitness features and phone controls. Its current availability and app support have not been verified, so it is best understood as a historical wearable concept—not a confirmed 2026 buying option.
What was the Trivoly 3?
Unlike a smartwatch with its own display, the Trivoly 3 was intended to sit between a watch and the wearer’s wrist. The June 2020 Fratello Watches feature described a touch-sensitive disc that connected to a phone over Bluetooth. The wearer could tap or swipe the watch to trigger configured actions.
The basic idea was to retain the look and personal appeal of a favorite traditional watch while borrowing a limited set of connected features. The phone remained central to the experience; the available description does not establish that the disc could operate independently, run apps, provide cellular connectivity or show information on a screen.
How it was supposed to work
- The wearer tapped or swiped the watch.
- The disc detected the gesture.
- It sent a command to a paired phone over Bluetooth.
- The phone or a connected app carried out the configured action.
This is the operating model reported in 2020, not a separately verified technical specification. It also means usefulness would depend on a nearby, compatible phone, a working Bluetooth connection, software permissions and the relevant app continuing to function.

Features reported in 2020
The Fratello article described the Trivoly 3 as offering or supporting:
- Notifications for messages, calls, texts and calendar events.
- Step counting, heart-rate tracking and other fitness or activity functions.
- Interaction with services and apps including WhatsApp, Facebook, Uber and Instagram.
- Music controls, with compatibility claims involving Sonos, Spotify and iTunes.
- Remote camera-shutter control: the article said the phone could be up to eight meters away when the wearer tapped the watch to take a picture.
These are historical reported capabilities, not confirmation that each feature worked reliably or remains compatible with current phones and apps. The source does not provide sensor-accuracy testing, technical methods for heart-rate measurement, or current app requirements. The camera example illustrates the intended convenience, but it too depended on a working phone connection and compatible software.

Size, attachment and comfort
The 2020 feature gave the disc’s dimensions as approximately 30 mm wide and 3 mm thick. It described the product as German-made, attached by “Gekko” micro-suction technology, water-resistant to IP67, dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic.
Those details need context. A 3 mm layer beneath a watch can change how high it sits, how it meets the wrist, how the strap fits and whether it catches on a cuff. The actual effect would vary with the watch’s caseback, shape, weight and strap geometry. Micro-suction may also behave differently on polished, brushed, curved, textured or coated surfaces, and with dust, perspiration or movement. The phrase “any watch” should therefore be treated as an aspiration, not a guarantee of fit or secure attachment for every model.

IP67 is a reported rating, not a blanket promise that the disc was suitable for swimming, diving, showering or prolonged immersion. Likewise, “hypoallergenic” is a product claim, not a guarantee that every wearer’s skin will tolerate it.
Why the idea appealed to watch owners
The Trivoly 3 addressed a real trade-off. A traditional watch can offer mechanical interest, heritage and a style its owner does not want to replace; a smartwatch can put notifications, activity features and controls on the wrist. Rather than asking watch enthusiasts to switch categories, Trivoly proposed adding some connected functions to the watch they already wore.

That approach could have appealed to someone who wanted occasional phone controls or notifications without a visible smartwatch screen. It did not, on the available evidence, offer the full experience of a smartwatch. There is no documentation here of onboard GPS, independent communications, a complete smartwatch operating system or a display.
The unresolved questions—and the current status
Fratello’s article listed a preorder price of €149 and a planned regular price of €179 in 2020, along with advertised worldwide shipping. Those are historical figures, not current prices. The article and product description do not establish whether the Trivoly 3 shipped at scale, whether preorder customers received units, or how it performed in long-term use.

The linked Trivoly website could not be verified as a current source during the research for this article. That does not prove the company is closed, but it means current stock, an active companion app, phone compatibility, warranty, returns, repairs and replacement support cannot be confirmed. Battery capacity, runtime, charging, privacy practices and the ongoing availability of any required backend or firmware service are also undocumented in the available coverage.
Anyone who encounters a used unit should not assume that its 2020 app integrations still work. Before relying on one, they would need to establish that the app is available for their current phone, that the device can be paired and configured, and that support and charging arrangements are usable. Fitness and heart-rate readings should not be treated as dependable measurements without independent validation.
Who the concept might have suited
The Trivoly 3’s intended audience was fairly specific: traditional-watch owners curious about a few connected conveniences but reluctant to wear a smartwatch. Remote camera control and music playback are clear examples of functions that could complement, rather than replace, a watch. A person who mainly wanted reliable activity tracking, a visible interface or phone-free operation would have needed a different kind of device.
