Yes. TikTok is currently available to download in the United States from both Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Store availability does not mean the law behind the 2025 removal was repealed or that TikTok’s U.S. status can never change. Here’s what happened, how to reinstall the official app, and what the return does—and does not—settle.
Where to download TikTok in the U.S.
Use the official store listing for your device:
- TikTok on Google Play. The listing identifies the developer as TikTok Pte. Ltd.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Apple’s App Store and search for TikTok. Confirm that the result is the official TikTok app before downloading. A stable Apple listing URL is not included here.
Google Play’s U.S. listing was active and showed an update dated July 8 or 9, 2026, depending on the listing variant surfaced by Google. That is evidence that the app remained available and updated there at that time, not a guarantee that every account or device will see it.

When TikTok returned to the stores
The dates differ because the store restoration and TikTok’s public announcement were separate events:

Service began returning on January 19, but new downloads from the major U.S. stores were still unavailable. - February 13, 2025: Apple and Google restored TikTok to their U.S. stores, according to contemporaneous reporting.
- February 14, 2025: TikTok announced that the app was available again on both stores in the U.S. in a company statement.
- January 23, 2026: TikTok announced the establishment of TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, a later development in the company’s U.S. operating arrangement.
Why TikTok disappeared—and why it came back
The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act restricted app stores and hosting providers from distributing, maintaining, or updating covered applications unless statutory divestiture conditions were met. TikTok was the principal target, though other ByteDance applications were affected too. The Supreme Court rejected TikTok’s challenge in January 2025, allowing the restrictions to take effect; the law itself was not erased by the later return to stores.

Apple and Google removed TikTok because continuing to distribute or update a covered app could expose them to substantial legal penalties. The restoration followed a different development: the Justice Department gave service providers assurances about enforcement. A January 30, 2025 Federal Register direction instructed the department not to enforce the law for 75 days against entities involved in distributing, maintaining, or updating covered applications during the specified period. Contemporary coverage also described a letter from Attorney General Pam Bondi to the companies as a key factor.
These are distinct questions: the statute remained in place; the executive branch set an enforcement posture; providers received assurances; and TikTok became practically downloadable again. Restoration should not be described as a repeal, nor as the Supreme Court reversing its decision.

What the 2026 U.S. joint venture changed
TikTok announced TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC on January 23, 2026. According to the joint venture announcement, it is majority-American owned and ByteDance retained a 19.9% stake. TikTok says the venture is responsible for U.S. user-data protection, algorithm security, software assurance, and U.S. trust-and-safety governance. The company describes safeguards including Oracle-hosted U.S. data on its joint venture site; these are the company’s representations, not an independent conclusion that every concern has been settled.
How to reinstall TikTok safely
iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and search for TikTok.
- Check the app identity and developer before selecting it.
- Tap Get or the cloud-download icon, then authenticate if Apple asks.
- Open TikTok and sign in to your existing account.
Android
- Open Google Play and search for TikTok, or use the official Google Play listing.
- Confirm the developer is TikTok Pte. Ltd.
- Tap Install, then open the app and sign in.
Use the official stores rather than APK mirrors, modified apps, or IPA files from unknown sites. Store installation is the ordinary route for updates as well as new downloads.

If TikTok does not appear in search
A missing search result does not necessarily mean the app has been removed nationally. Availability can vary with account country, device compatibility, age settings, and device-management policies. Check these items in order:
- Confirm your Apple ID or Google account country is set to the United States.
- Check parental controls, a child account, or school and employer management restrictions that may block installation.
- Update your device’s operating system and the App Store or Google Play app, then restart the device and search again.
- On Android, if account and device checks do not help, try clearing Google Play’s cache and retrying.
- Avoid changing your store country solely to obtain TikTok; a region change can affect subscriptions, payment methods, purchased content, and other apps.
Does its return mean the ban is permanently over?
No. The app’s presence in U.S. storefronts confirms practical availability at the time checked; it does not by itself settle every future legal challenge, enforcement decision, or ownership condition. The 2026 joint venture is relevant to TikTok’s continued U.S. operation, but app-store availability alone cannot establish that the legal and national-security dispute is permanently resolved.

The venture says its safeguards also cover CapCut, Lemon8, and other apps and websites in the U.S. That does not mean those products have the same store status, developer identity, or treatment as TikTok; check each app’s listing separately.
