The Pixel 8 Pro’s lowest reported Amazon Prime Day 2024 price was $699 for the unlocked 128GB model—$300, or about 30%, below its $999 U.S. launch price. That was a notable deal at the time, but it was a July 16–17, 2024 promotion, not a confirmed offer available now. The headline price applied to select listings and colors; it did not cover every configuration.
How the Prime Day prices differed
Contemporary deal coverage reported several prices during the event, reflecting different moments and configurations. Engadget called $699 a record low at the time. The 128GB model had also been reported at $749 earlier in the sale, while Android Central listed the 256GB version at $759.

Android Central reported the $699 price for Bay and Obsidian late on July 17, with the lighter color option reportedly still at $749. These were time- and inventory-sensitive prices, not a guarantee that every seller or color was discounted equally. Why $699 was a meaningful price in 2024
The Pixel 8 Pro was Google’s premium phone when the promotion ran. At $699, the base model cost substantially less than its $999 launch price while retaining the Pro’s large display, three-camera rear system, and flagship-oriented features. The timing also came shortly before Google’s Pixel 9 announcement. That timing is useful context for the discount, but the available reporting does not confirm it as the reason Amazon reduced the price.

Google’s specifications list a 6.7-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate and up to 2,400 nits peak brightness; a Tensor G3 processor with 12GB of RAM; and 50MP wide, 48MP ultrawide, and 48MP telephoto rear cameras. The camera system and Google’s computational photography were central reasons to consider the phone, along with its large, high-refresh-rate screen and Pixel software experience. The 256GB version at $759 could make sense for someone who records a lot of video or stores large offline libraries: the reported difference from the 128GB price was $60. Whether that extra storage is worth it depends on how you use the phone; neither capacity should be treated as having had a single, universal Prime Day price.

Seven years of updates—but not seven years of new hardware
Google says Pixel 8 and later phones receive seven years of OS and security updates, as well as Pixel Drops. The Pixel 8 Pro became available on the Google Store in the U.S. in October 2023, so the policy implies support through approximately October 2030. In August 2026, that works out to roughly four years remaining. The estimate follows Google’s policy and availability date; it is not a separately published end date for this specific phone. Update-policy details are on Google’s update-support page, and the availability date is listed in its device availability information.
That support runway is valuable, but it does not make Tensor G3 as fast or efficient as newer-generation hardware, nor does it guarantee that every later Pixel feature will come to this model. Deal coverage praised the phone’s cameras, display, battery improvements, and software features, but the available evidence does not establish it as the best choice for every buyer. If sustained gaming performance, cellular efficiency, or the newest AI features are priorities, compare it with newer phones before deciding.

What to check on a listing
The reported $699 offer was described as unlocked, but a low headline price is not enough to establish that a particular listing has the same terms. Before checkout, verify:
- Condition: Is it new, refurbished, renewed, used, or open-box? Those are different offers. A later report of an Amazon Renewed Pixel 8 Pro around $340 in July 2025 was a separate promotion, not evidence of the Prime Day 2024 price.
- Seller and fulfillment: Check who is selling the phone and who is fulfilling it. A third-party marketplace listing may have different return and warranty terms from a device sold directly by Amazon or Google.
- Lock and activation requirements: Confirm the phone is unlocked and does not require a carrier activation or financing plan. Check compatibility with your carrier.
- Storage and color: Confirm the listing is for the capacity you want, and compare the final checkout price for that color. The $699 price was not reported for every color or storage tier.
- Warranty and returns: Google’s specifications list a one-year U.S. warranty for the Pixel 8 Pro, but a marketplace, renewed, or refurbished listing may have different coverage. Read the terms for that exact device.
- Prime and final cost: Check whether a membership is required and calculate the total after tax and any accessories you need. A deal’s apparent savings can shrink if it requires a membership or additional purchases.
Google’s official refurbished page is a distinct alternative to the historical Amazon promotion. It showed a 128GB refurbished Pixel 8 Pro at $649 when crawled in the supplied research, but that was a separate offer and may change. Google describes its refurbished phones as tested and backed by a one-year warranty; check the Google Store refurbished listing for current price, stock, and terms rather than assuming that price remains available.

Also note that IP68 is a water- and dust-resistance rating, not a promise that a phone is waterproof. Google says resistance can decline with wear, damage, repair, or disassembly, and liquid damage may not be covered by the warranty.
Is the Pixel 8 Pro still worth buying?
At $699 new in July 2024, it was a compelling way to get Pixel cameras, a premium display, and an unlocked flagship for well below launch price. In August 2026, judge the phone by the price and condition actually offered—not by that expired Prime Day headline. It is more appealing when it is substantially cheaper than a newer Pixel Pro and comes with clear warranty and return protection. If its price approaches that of a newer Pro model, the newer phone’s more recent hardware and longer remaining support period may be worth the difference.

A low-priced certified-refurbished unit can be worth considering, but assess its condition and warranty rather than treating it as equivalent to a sealed new phone. For any renewed or used device, battery condition and seller terms matter. The supplied research gives editorial price thresholds—not verified current market prices: below $400 refurbished may be compelling if condition and warranty are strong; $400–$550 merits comparison with newer non-Pro phones; above $600 new calls for a close comparison with current-generation Pro pricing. Near $700 or more in 2026, older hardware needs an unusually strong warranty or added value to make a convincing case.
