An image attributed to leaker Digital Chat Station circulated on November 13, 2024, appearing to show an Oppo Reno13 beside an iPhone 15. Its flat-looking sides, restrained slab shape and vertically arranged rear-camera area prompted the “iPhone-like” comparison. Oppo had not authenticated the image at the time. The Reno13 series launched in China 12 days later, giving the leak a useful reality check.
What the leaked image showed
Contemporary reports described the image as a live photograph, not an official Oppo press image. It appeared to place a light-colored handset next to an iPhone 15, offering a partial view of the Reno13’s back and edges. The image was attributed to Digital Chat Station; that attribution does not mean Oppo supplied or verified it. Notebookcheck’s report covered the image and noted that Oppo had not announced a launch date. Gizmochina also reported the image on November 13.
A single partial image could suggest the phone’s overall outline, but it could not establish the finished materials, full camera hardware, exact dimensions or whether the pictured unit was a final production device. Nor did it settle whether the standard Reno13 and Reno13 Pro would share the same design.

The comparison was mainly visual: the handset appeared to have flat or nearly flat side rails, a simple rectangular profile, a light rear panel and a vertically organized camera area. Seen beside an iPhone 15, those elements could make the Oppo look familiar. That is a description of resemblance, not evidence that the phones were dimensionally identical or that Oppo copied Apple.

Flat edges can look crisp and may feel secure in the hand, though some people find them less comfortable than rounded sides. And a distinctive camera island says nothing by itself about image quality; that depends on the sensors, lenses, processing and software.
What was unknown when the image appeared
On November 13, the launch date was still a tip rather than a confirmed announcement. Reports pointed to a possible November 25 China launch, but the image did not verify that date or establish final specifications, pricing, regional availability, battery capacity, camera hardware or whether the shown handset was production-ready. The key distinction is simple: the leak offered a design clue, not a product specification sheet.
What Oppo launched
Oppo introduced the Reno13 series in China on November 25, 2024, with the Reno13 and Reno13 Pro. The date tipped before launch was correct. Oppo described the construction as a one-piece sculpted glass rear panel paired with a metal frame, and framed the styling around light, shadow and butterfly-wing inspiration rather than an Apple comparison. The launch and pricing were reported by Xinhua; Oppo later published its own design explanation.

The final phones broadly supported the leak’s impression of a flat-sided, polished and minimal design. That makes “iPhone-like” a reasonable shorthand for the silhouette, but not a complete description of Oppo’s own materials and styling.

Leak versus the finished Reno13

Reno13 and Reno13 Pro: keep the specifications separate
Oppo’s global specifications show two related but meaningfully different phones. The standard Reno13 5G has a 6.59-inch OLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 platform, a 5,600mAh typical-capacity battery and 80W SUPERVOOC charging. Oppo lists its weight at 181g and thickness at 7.24mm in Plume White or 7.29mm in Luminous Blue. Its official product page also lists AI Livephoto and AI Editor features.
The Reno13 Pro 5G steps up to a 1.5K 120Hz OLED display and a 5,800mAh battery, while retaining the Dimensity 8350 platform and 80W SUPERVOOC charging. Its camera system comprises a 50MP main camera using Sony’s IMX890 sensor, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom, an 8MP ultrawide and a 50MP selfie camera. Oppo lists it at 195g and 7.55mm thick in its global launch announcement. Do not assume the standard Reno13 has the Pro’s telephoto camera.
Capacity figures can also depend on how they are reported. For the China-market Reno13, Oppo lists 5,450mAh rated capacity and 5,600mAh typical capacity; those are two descriptions of the battery, not necessarily conflicting figures. Regional specifications should be checked against the local model rather than assumed to match one another.
China prices are not global prices
At the November 2024 China launch, the Reno13 started at 2,699 yuan and the Reno13 Pro at 3,399 yuan. The Pro’s announced configurations ranged from 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage at 3,399 yuan to 16GB and 1TB at 4,499 yuan. These are China-market launch prices, not current prices for other countries. Oppo’s global announcement directs customers to local-market information for pricing and availability.

Oppo subsequently announced a global Reno13 series in selected markets, including Reno13 Pro 5G, Reno13 5G and Reno13 F models. The F is a separate model, not just another name for the standard Reno13. Availability, specifications and pricing vary by country; the global announcement does not establish that every model is officially sold in the United States. For an imported handset, check the exact model’s network-band compatibility, warranty region, charger compatibility and return terms before buying.
Other practical caveats
Oppo lists IP66, IP68 and IP69 ratings for the global Reno13, but these ratings are based on controlled laboratory testing, not a promise of protection in every real-world situation. Water resistance can be affected by wear, damage or repairs, so the ratings should not be read as unlimited protection.
AI features also are not guaranteed to work identically everywhere. Oppo notes that AI availability and behavior can vary by region, software version and time. Check the local product page and software documentation if a particular feature matters to you.
Verdict
The November 13 image was an unofficial, partial look—not an Oppo reveal—but its central visual impression held up. The finished Reno13 series had a flat-sided, polished design that made the iPhone comparison understandable. The leak did not prove copying, confirm specifications or guarantee worldwide availability; those questions were answered only later, and in some cases vary by model and market.
