If you want a phone that is easier to hold, the lightest notable current Android model found in this comparison is the Motorola Edge 70 at 159g. It is listed on Motorola’s international site, however, so U.S. buyers should confirm local availability, warranty, and carrier compatibility before importing or buying one. For a clearly documented U.S. flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge weighs 163g; the smaller Galaxy S25 weighs 162g and is a more conventional compact choice.
These are manufacturer-listed handset weights, not shipping weights. Light, small, and thin are different things: a large phone can be light yet awkward to grip, and the thinnest model is not necessarily the lightest. The right choice depends on how much you value low weight against battery life, cameras, price, support, and local availability.

A few grams should not decide a purchase by themselves. The 4g difference between the Edge 70 and S25 Edge is less important to many people than the size and shape of the phone. Width, height, edge shape, and balance all affect grip. A narrow 170g phone may be easier to hold than a wider 160g one, while a heavy camera bump can make a handset feel top-heavy.
Weight also changes once you add a case, screen protector, camera protector, or magnetic accessory. Check the weight of the complete setup you plan to carry—not just the bare phone—especially if you need a rugged case.
The lightest notable current Android phones
1. Motorola Edge 70: lightest confirmed candidate
Motorola lists the Edge 70 at 159g and 5.99mm thick, with a 6.67-inch display. Despite that slim profile, its listed specifications include a 4,800mAh battery, Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, three 50MP cameras, and IP68/IP69 protection. Motorola also states four Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Check the official Edge 70 specifications for the configuration and availability in your region.

Best for: someone who wants the lowest confirmed weight in this comparison without giving up a large display or a substantial stated battery capacity.
Check before buying: the cited product page is international, not a U.S. retail listing. Confirm that the exact model is sold in your country, supports your carrier’s LTE and 5G bands and calling features, and comes with a local warranty. Imported versions can differ in SIM or eSIM support and network behavior. Motorola’s durability rating is a manufacturer specification, not independent drop-test evidence.
2. Samsung Galaxy S25: the balanced compact flagship
Samsung lists the Galaxy S25 at 162g. Its 6.2-inch form is smaller and more conventional than the large, ultra-thin phones above, and it is 7.2mm thick. That makes it a strong choice if you want a lightweight flagship that is easier for many people to grip, rather than the thinnest possible handset. Best for: buyers who prioritize a compact body and everyday balance over a very large display or extreme thinness.
Keep in mind: the 162g figure is a manufacturer-listed specification; confirm the exact regional version when comparing devices. A lighter phone is not automatically better for battery life, camera flexibility, or one-handed reach.
3. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: best-documented lightweight U.S. flagship
The Galaxy S25 Edge is listed at 163g and 5.8mm thick, with a 6.7-inch QHD+ display and Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Samsung’s U.S. product information lists a 200MP wide camera and 12MP ultrawide camera; it does not have a dedicated telephoto camera. Its high-resolution main sensor can provide optical-quality 2x zoom, but that is not the same hardware as a separate telephoto lens. See the U.S. model specifications.

Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP document lists the unlocked 256GB version at $1,099.99 and 512GB versions at $1,219.99. Those are MSRPs from that document, not a live sale-price guarantee; check the current U.S. product page before purchase.
Best for: someone in the U.S. who wants a large, high-end display and flagship performance in a very thin, light phone.
Think twice if: battery endurance, a dedicated zoom camera, or value matters more than thinness. A protective case can also add weight and reduce the appeal of a 5.8mm body.

What about a lightweight value phone?
The Google Pixel 9a is worth considering for its software support rather than as a confirmed lightest-phone pick. Google specifies seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates, IP68 dust and water resistance, and dual rear cameras. It launched with Android 15. The official pages used here do not establish a weight figure for the exact configuration, so compare its current regional specification with the phones above before treating it as a lightweight recommendation. The ASUS Zenfone 10 is an older compact option, not a current default pick. ASUS lists a 5.9-inch AMOLED display, 4,300mAh battery, wireless charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack; the phone launched with Android 13. Its age makes remaining software support, current stock, condition, and warranty important checks, particularly if buying used or refurbished. See the Zenfone 10 specifications.
Choose by more than weight
- For the lowest listed weight: start with the Motorola Edge 70, but establish local availability and network compatibility first.
- For a large-screen U.S. flagship: consider the Galaxy S25 Edge if its thinness is worth the price and camera/battery trade-offs to you.
- For a compact flagship: the Galaxy S25’s smaller body may be easier to grip than a large-screen phone, even though its weight is close to the Edge models.
- For long software support: compare the Pixel 9a’s seven-year commitment with the Edge 70’s stated four Android upgrades and six years of security updates; verify weight separately.
- For long days away from a charger: do not assume the lightest device is the best. Compare independent battery-life tests for the exact model and the way you use a phone.
Light designs can involve trade-offs in battery capacity, camera hardware, thermal headroom, materials, or accessory flexibility. Battery capacity alone does not predict endurance: display size, processor, modem, software, and usage matter too. Similarly, megapixel count does not establish camera quality, and a high-resolution main sensor is not a substitute for every kind of zoom camera.

Thinness is a separate measure. The S25 Edge is thinner than the Edge 70 but heavier; the S25 is lighter than the Edge yet noticeably thicker. If a phone feels slippery or unbalanced without a case, its bare weight may not deliver the comfort you wanted. Look at dimensions and, if possible, handle the exact model before buying.
Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model and region. Check handset weight, dimensions, SIM/eSIM configuration, and whether mmWave or other regional hardware changes the specification.
- Check carrier support. Verify LTE and 5G bands, VoLTE, and other calling features with your carrier, especially for imported phones.
- Check warranty and service. Confirm who will honor the warranty and whether local repair and replacement parts are available.
- Compare the full carry weight. Account for the case and any accessories; do not assume a case is light without a listed weight.
- Decide which trade-offs you accept. Compare battery testing, camera layout, durability ratings, and the manufacturer’s update promise—not just weight or megapixels.
- Compare the price correctly. Distinguish MSRP from a current sale or trade-in offer, and compare the same storage tier and unlocked/carrier configuration.
- For older or imported phones, check support and return terms. Confirm the current update status, seller reputation, condition, and return policy before relying on a used-market listing.
How this comparison treats weight
Rankings here use manufacturer-listed handset weight where it was confirmed, not shipping weight. They identify the relevant market limitations rather than claiming to be a census of every Android phone worldwide. Regional versions, SIM configurations, materials, and other hardware can change a stated figure, and discontinued or niche imports may not be practical choices for a current buyer. Foldables are not ranked alongside conventional slab phones: hinges, dual panels, folded dimensions, and different use cases make direct comparisons misleading.
