First identify what is failing: Telegram Web is the browser client at web.telegram.org; a Telegram Mini App is a web app launched from a bot or chat. For Telegram Web, try an updated browser with JavaScript enabled, then test a private window, disable extensions temporarily, clear only Telegram’s site data, and try another network. For a Mini App that alone fails, the problem may be with that app or its developer rather than Telegram Web.
Identify which Telegram web product is broken
- Telegram Web: Telegram’s browser-based chat client at web.telegram.org. Telegram lists WebA and WebK among its official web clients on its applications page.
- Telegram Mini App: A web application opened from a bot, chat, or button inside Telegram. It can have its own website, authentication, payment, and developer-side problems. See Telegram’s Mini Apps documentation.
- Telegram Login on another website: A separate sign-in feature provided by an external site. If that login fails, the site’s integration or domain configuration may be responsible; it does not necessarily indicate a Telegram Web outage. Telegram documents this feature at Telegram Login and in its bot features guide.
Use the symptom to choose your first test

Fix Telegram Web loading or browser errors
1. Confirm the address and browser
Open https://web.telegram.org/ directly, not a search-result ad or a site reached through an unfamiliar link. Use an up-to-date mainstream browser and restart it after updating. Telegram’s unsupported-browser notice recommends updating the browser or using a native client; supported-browser requirements can change, so avoid relying on a fixed version number.
Telegram Web needs JavaScript. If scripts are disabled globally or blocked for Telegram, the page may remain blank or tell you to enable JavaScript. Allow JavaScript for the official site before testing again.

2. Test a private window and extensions
Open a private or incognito window and visit Telegram Web. If it works there, the regular browser profile’s stored data or an extension is a likely factor. Private mode is a diagnostic, not a permanent repair, and its session may not persist when the window closes.

In your normal window, temporarily turn off extensions that can block scripts or connections: ad and script blockers, anti-tracking tools, VPN extensions, security add-ons, and corporate filtering extensions. Reload Telegram after each change to find a conflict, then re-enable protections that are not responsible. Do not leave security tools disabled unnecessarily.
3. Remove Telegram’s site data only
If private mode works but your regular profile does not, delete data for Telegram’s site rather than erasing every browser cookie. The exact labels vary by browser version:
- Chrome or Edge: With Telegram Web open, select the site-information icon beside the address bar, open Site settings or Cookies and site data, and remove data for
web.telegram.org. - Firefox: Open Telegram Web, select the padlock icon, and use Clear cookies and site data or the equivalent site-data control.
- Safari: Use Safari’s website-data controls to remove Telegram’s stored data.
Close and reopen the browser, then sign in again. Removing site data can sign you out and require another QR scan. It does not delete ordinary cloud chats from your Telegram account. Telegram says cloud chats synchronize across connected devices, whereas Secret Chats are tied to their particular device/session and should not be treated like cloud chats; see the Telegram FAQ.

4. Try another official web client or desktop app
If the main web client still fails, use Telegram’s official applications page to try WebA or WebK. They are official clients, not unofficial workarounds, but testing a different client is diagnostic rather than a guarantee that a particular failure will disappear.
When the browser is unsupported, unstable, or repeatedly affected by its profile or extensions, use Telegram Desktop. Telegram provides desktop clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Download from Telegram’s official domain or a platform’s verified app store.
Fix Telegram Web QR or phone-number login
QR-code login
- Open Telegram on a phone that is already signed in to the account you want to use.
- Go to Settings → Devices → Add Device.
- Scan the fresh QR code displayed on Telegram Web and confirm the new session if prompted.
This is the QR-login path shown on Telegram Web’s official login page. If a QR code has been sitting open for a while, refresh the web page and scan the newly generated code rather than an old screenshot.

Phone-number login and missing codes
- Enter the number in international format, including the country code, and use a mobile number linked to an existing Telegram account. Telegram’s FAQ says accounts are connected to mobile numbers, not landlines.
- Check Telegram on another signed-in device before requesting an SMS. Telegram may deliver a login code through the verified Telegram chat instead of by text message.
- If two-step verification is enabled, expect to enter the additional password after the login code. Do not disable account protection just to make a web sign-in easier.
Telegram Web is not the normal account-registration route. If you do not already have an account, follow Telegram’s official app guidance at Telegram apps and downloads and the FAQ.
Security: Enter a login code only in Telegram’s official app or at its genuine login page. Never send it to a bot, third-party website, supposed support account, or “recovery” service. Telegram’s FAQ explains the distinction between Telegram login codes and codes used by third-party services.
Check whether your network is blocking or disrupting Telegram
Compare two connections
- Try Telegram Web on your usual Wi-Fi.
- Try again using a phone hotspot or another trusted network.
- If the hotspot works but Wi-Fi does not, investigate the router, ISP, DNS, system or browser proxy, firewall, antivirus HTTPS inspection, parental controls, or workplace/school filtering on the affected connection.
Firefox has browser-specific proxy controls; Chromium-based browsers generally follow system network settings. Change DNS or proxy settings only if you understand the change, and record the original settings so you can restore them. Network troubleshooting guidance from Proton VPN also identifies ISP blocking, proxy settings, antivirus interference, and alternate-network testing as possible factors.

Use a VPN only as a targeted test
If Telegram works only when a VPN is connected, that points toward possible network-level blocking or routing interference; it does not prove Telegram itself is down. A VPN may also create the problem through its DNS, selected server, protocol, threat filtering, or browser extension. Test with and without it, and check workplace, school, local-law, and service restrictions before using one. - Open another bot or Mini App. If other Telegram features work and only one Mini App fails, focus on that app.
- Try the same Mini App in Telegram’s mobile app and, where supported, Telegram Desktop. Note whether the whole app fails or only a button, login, payment, or embedded page.
- Update Telegram, close and reopen the chat, and test without a VPN, proxy, content blocker, or restrictive network.
- If the issue remains limited to one app, contact its developer through the bot or service’s official channel. Include the failing screen or action, your Telegram platform, and any error text, but never send a login code or password.
Possible causes include a broken developer website, a misconfigured domain or bot, an expired or invalid authorization token, a server-side error, an unsupported browser feature, a payment-provider failure, or a WebView rendering issue. Telegram’s Mini Apps documentation describes authentication claims that developers must validate, including issuer, audience, and expiry, so an authorization failure may require a developer-side fix.

If the failure is Telegram Login on a separate website, the site owner may need to correct its integration. Telegram’s bot features documentation says the bot should be paired with the website domain through BotFather’s /setdomain command for the login widget.

Tell a local problem from a wider service or account issue
A page failing on one browser or one Wi-Fi network is not enough to establish that Telegram is down. Compare Telegram Web with the mobile app and Desktop, try a second network, and check whether other websites work. If Telegram fails across devices and independent networks, a broader service incident, account/login problem, regional or ISP restriction, or device connectivity issue becomes more plausible. The material available here does not establish a definitive Telegram-operated public status dashboard, so do not treat a single failed page as confirmation of an outage.
If text chats work but files or media do not, investigate blockers and network filtering rather than assuming the whole service is unavailable. If Telegram works on mobile but not in a browser, prioritize browser profile, extension, site-data, compatibility, and proxy checks instead of reinstalling the phone app.
Contact Telegram through official channels
If the issue appears account-related or remains unresolved, use Telegram’s in-app support route, Settings → Ask a question, or the official support information in the Telegram FAQ. If you cannot log in, use the support route provided by Telegram’s official site. Telegram says support relies on volunteers, so response times are not guaranteed. Do not trust accounts claiming to be Telegram support if they ask for your login code, password, or payment.
