TeamViewer 15.59.5 is a genuine TeamViewer 15 release, but it is not a current version. TeamViewer released it for Windows on November 13, 2024, and macOS on November 14, 2024. Its main changes were a redesigned Remote Support window, a supporter waiting room, and a documented copy-and-paste fix.
For a new installation, use the latest compatible release from TeamViewer’s official download portal. Consider 15.59.5 only when a tested legacy environment, compatibility requirement, or reproducibility project specifically requires that build.
What TeamViewer 15.59.5 is
TeamViewer 15.59.5 is a version of TeamViewer’s remote-access and remote-support software. The number identifies a particular release in the TeamViewer 15 series; it is not a license, subscription, product tier, or separate application.
The version may appear in an installer inventory, software repository, deployment platform, support ticket, or file properties. Inventory tools can also report a component-specific version, so confirm whether the detected package is the full client, Host, QuickSupport, or an organization-specific deployment package.

Do not confuse 15.59.5 with:
- 15.59.3: an earlier release whose listed changes included AI-powered support-session summaries and Session Insights.
- 15.60.x: later releases in the TeamViewer 15 series.
- QuickSupport or Host: different TeamViewer package types that can have separate installers and deployment purposes.
- TeamViewer Remote: current product branding that does not mean every TeamViewer 15 build is current.

TeamViewer publishes platform-specific release streams. The reviewed official changelog contains 15.59.5 entries for Windows and macOS; it does not establish a matching Linux 15.59.5 release. Do not assume that one installer or one release date applies to every operating system.
The official changelog archive also shows TeamViewer 15.59.3 releases on October 29, 2024 and a Linux 15.60.3 release on November 26, 2024. Those entries reinforce that TeamViewer’s version streams and dates can differ by platform.
What changed in 15.59.5?
Redesigned Remote Support window
The principal change was a redesigned Remote Support window inspired by TeamViewer’s Classic interface. The layout made the two primary workflows easier to distinguish:

The redesign also gave greater prominence to session codes, TeamViewer ID and password details, and recent connections. This is mainly a usability and workflow improvement, not evidence of a new remote-control protocol or a complete redesign of every TeamViewer screen.
Supporter waiting room
Supporters could join a session and wait for the end user in a dedicated waiting room. The feature was intended to help a technician remain ready while viewing and copying relevant session information.

This should not be confused with a general video-conferencing meeting room. It is a support-session workflow for a technician waiting to join or assist with a remote connection.
Copy-and-paste fix
The 15.59.5 release notes document a fix for copy-and-paste problems within a session. That does not guarantee that every clipboard failure will disappear. Clipboard behavior can still depend on operating-system permissions, TeamViewer session settings, security software, administrator policies, connection type, and whether the content is plain text, formatted content, or files.
If clipboard transfer remains unavailable, test a plain-text snippet first, check the session’s remote-control permissions, verify both endpoints’ policies, and compare behavior with another supported connection type.
Is TeamViewer 15.59.5 still supported?
Treat 15.59.5 as legacy software rather than as a current supported baseline. TeamViewer’s software lifecycle policy says active maintenance is provided for the current software version, with maintenance for at least 12 months after a release date. A TeamViewer 15 build may still launch or connect, but that does not mean it continues to receive current fixes or remains compatible with every service and endpoint.
Whether it works today can depend on:
- TeamViewer’s server-side compatibility and authentication requirements
- The operating system on both devices
- Account and licensing rules
- Security software and local network policy
- The version running on the remote endpoint
- Changes to TeamViewer infrastructure
Do not describe 15.59.5 as “secure” solely because it is an official TeamViewer build. Authenticity and security are separate questions, and an older remote-access program deserves particular care because it can provide powerful control over a computer.

Should you install it today?
Use the current compatible release when:
- You are installing TeamViewer on a current operating system.
- You are setting up a new support workstation or business deployment.
- You need current compatibility, maintenance, management, or security capabilities.
- The software will handle sensitive systems or business-critical support.
- You connect to many customers or endpoints with varying configurations.
TeamViewer’s official Windows download portal showed version 15.79.4 as the current Windows version in the reviewed 2026 material, while the official changelog listed 15.79.4 releases for Windows, macOS, and Linux dated June 22, 2026. Because release status can change, check the portal directly rather than treating that version as permanently current.
Use 15.59.5 only as a controlled exception when:
- A vendor-certified application requires the exact build.
- A validated deployment has been tested against 15.59.5.
- A legacy endpoint cannot yet be upgraded.
- A forensic, archival, or reproducibility exercise requires the historical binary.
- An organization needs a temporary known-good version during a documented migration.
In those cases, isolate the deployment where practical, restrict access, document the exception, monitor its use, and schedule replacement. Downgrading can introduce authentication, configuration, policy, or endpoint-compatibility problems.
Legacy Windows compatibility
TeamViewer announced that, from April 29, 2025, it would stop actively servicing Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. TeamViewer states that systems remaining on those operating systems can use versions only up to 15.64.
That makes 15.59.5 technically within the stated version ceiling for those legacy Windows systems. It does not mean every 15.59.5 installation is secure, fully supported, or advisable. Those Windows editions also carry their own operating-system lifecycle and security risks. If the machine can be upgraded, upgrading the operating system is the safer long-term solution.

How to obtain TeamViewer 15.59.5 safely
Start with TeamViewer’s official download portal. The portal separates packages by operating system and purpose and provides a “See previous versions” option where available. An exact historical build may not remain openly available for every platform, so do not assume that a third-party download page is an equivalent source.
- Identify the operating system, architecture, and required package.
- Choose between QuickSupport, the full client, Host, or a managed Windows MSI package.
- Confirm that 15.59.5—not merely TeamViewer 15—is required.
- Obtain the installer from TeamViewer or an approved internal software repository.
- Verify its provenance and organizational approval. Do not rely on the version number alone to prove authenticity.
- Test it in an isolated environment before deployment.
- Check incoming and outgoing connections, authentication, clipboard behavior, file transfer, and unattended access.
- Apply restrictive permissions, two-factor authentication, and trusted-device controls where available.
- Record the installed version, package type, source, and planned replacement date.
QuickSupport is generally intended for on-demand assistance. Host is designed for unattended access and therefore creates a greater security impact. The full client provides broader support and administration functions but is a larger and more complex deployment.

Copy and paste still does not work
The release includes a documented copy-and-paste fix, but clipboard transfer may still be blocked. Test plain text, check local and remote permissions, review TeamViewer session settings, and inspect endpoint security or administrator policies. Confirm whether the problem occurs with the full client, Host, or QuickSupport.
The client cannot connect after a downgrade
Check whether the remote endpoint, TeamViewer account, and server-side services still accept the older build. Review authentication errors, endpoint versions, firewall rules, and organizational policies. A downgrade can leave configuration or policy data inconsistent; reverting to the latest compatible release is preferable when the exact old build is not mandatory.

The installer is rejected on an older Windows system
Confirm the operating system and architecture, then compare the result with TeamViewer’s legacy-Windows servicing policy. A 15.59.5 installer being below the stated 15.64 ceiling does not override other requirements or guarantee successful operation.

The wrong package appears in inventory
Check the installed product name, file version, service name, and deployment package. An inventory platform may report a component version or a repackaged MSI rather than the public product label.
Unattended access is missing
Confirm that Host or the full client—not QuickSupport—was installed, and verify that unattended access was explicitly configured. Review account permissions and local security policy before enabling persistent access.
Licensing and alternatives
TeamViewer offers a free license for personal use subject to its licensing conditions. Commercial support, unattended business access, and enterprise administration generally require an appropriate subscription. TeamViewer’s reviewed subscription information describes annual billing and automatic annual renewal; monthly payment was not listed as available on that support page. Plan availability and pricing vary by country, users, endpoints, and add-ons, so check the official pricing page for the relevant market instead of relying on an old price.

For larger organizations, TeamViewer Tensor adds enterprise-oriented capabilities such as SSO, auditability, integrations, and mass deployment. TeamViewer ONE targets teams that need remote support alongside endpoint visibility and remediation. These products are not automatically better choices for occasional personal support; their broader features can add cost and operational complexity.
Organizations evaluating a replacement can also investigate AnyDesk, Splashtop, or RustDesk. They differ in licensing, hosting, administration, integrations, and support models. Compare them against your access-control, compliance, self-hosting, and unattended-access requirements rather than assuming feature or price parity.
Security checklist
- Never accept an unsolicited TeamViewer connection from an unknown caller.
- Do not disclose an ID, password, or session code to an untrusted person.
- Remove unattended-access agents that are no longer required.
- Review account permissions, trusted devices, and access logs.
- Enable two-factor authentication where available.
- Limit legacy builds to documented systems and compensating controls.
- Remember that an unsupported operating system is a separate security risk from the TeamViewer version.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: TeamViewer 15.59.5 is a legitimate Windows and macOS release from November 2024, mainly notable for its Remote Support redesign, supporter waiting room, and clipboard fix. It is now a legacy build. Install the current compatible TeamViewer release for new or production deployments, and retain 15.59.5 only for a controlled, documented compatibility or preservation requirement.
