Yes—the TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is a real phone, not just an unconfirmed retailer leak. A Colombian store listing surfaced the device and its specifications; TCL later announced it at IFA 2025 and published official regional product information. The key qualification is that the listing does not make every specification universal: storage, weight, accessories, pricing and availability can vary by country and model.
What the store listing showed
The original report identified a Colombian e-commerce listing using the name “TCL 60 Ultra NXTPAPER,” while TCL’s official name is “TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra.” The listing included product images and a detailed specification sheet, but it was reported as out of stock—not as an in-stock launch or proof of broad retail availability. The report did not establish an official TCL launch price at that point. The listing report is useful as an early sighting, but TCL’s later materials are the stronger evidence for the phone’s existence and core hardware.

TCL later confirmed the phone
TCL introduced the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra at IFA 2025 in Berlin, with an announcement dated September 4, 2025. Its regional product page identifies the model and confirms the headline features: a 7.2-inch FHD+ NXTPAPER 4.0 display, MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, 50MP periscope telephoto camera, 5,200mAh battery, IP68 rating and configurations with up to 512GB storage. TCL also lists FCC ID 2ACCJH188 on its Colombia page. An FCC ID does not, by itself, establish U.S. retail availability or compatibility with every U.S. carrier.
TCL warns that specifications, features, colors and memory configurations may differ by country. It is therefore more accurate to say the phone is officially confirmed, while some details are confirmed only for particular regional versions or listings.

The primary reference is TCL’s Colombia product page; TCL’s IFA announcement supplies further context. A product document for a listed model adds details such as resolution, refresh rate and Android version. These sources do not turn every listed specification into a worldwide guarantee.
What NXTPAPER 4.0 is—and what it does not prove
NXTPAPER 4.0 is TCL’s display and software approach to reducing glare and making reading more comfortable. TCL describes natural-light display behavior, zero-flicker operation, blue-light reduction, reflection-free and anti-glare treatment, low-light eye-comfort features, adaptation to biological rhythms and TruePaper Restoration. TCL also says the display has TÜV and SGS certifications. Those are manufacturer-described features and certifications, not proof that the phone prevents eye strain or protects eyesight.
The matte, glare-reducing presentation is the central reason to consider the phone. It is also a different trade-off from a conventional OLED screen: buyers should not assume OLED-like black levels, contrast or HDR impact. The available documentation does not provide independent comparative measurements for this phone, so display quality and brightness in everyday conditions remain questions for hands-on testing.
Max Ink, reading tools and accessories
TCL says the dedicated NXTPAPER button activates Max Ink, a reduced-distraction reading mode that can block notifications. The company also describes reading in six languages, importing personal text, AI Outline, AI Q&A, translation, voice-note assistance, summarization and rewriting, plus AI-generated audiobooks and podcasts. TCL’s footnotes limit some reading features to 200 free resources and user-imported content; AI podcast functionality is limited to those 200 free resources. The product page does not settle every buyer question about language availability, cloud processing, future charges or exactly which notifications Max Ink blocks, so check the regional software details before relying on a particular feature.
TCL describes a modular accessory set involving a MagCase, MagFlip, stylus and stylus case. The accessories may be sold separately, and TCL says a MagCase is required for the accessory setup. Do not assume a stylus or case comes in the box; confirm the bundle for the exact retailer and country.

A 50MP periscope camera with 3× optical zoom is an unusual feature for a TCL phone positioned around a large reading-focused display. TCL claims up to 6× lossless zoom and promotes its MuseFilm imaging technology. Those are specifications and marketing claims, not proof of flagship-level photos. The available material does not establish how well the telephoto lens handles indoor light, how reliably stabilization works, whether the camera app switches lenses smoothly, or whether 4K video and a telephoto night mode are supported.

The Dimensity 7400 makes this an upper-midrange phone on paper. It should be judged as a large-screen, display-focused device, not assumed to match a Galaxy S Ultra or iPhone Pro in processing power. The 5,200mAh battery and 33W charging are confirmed headline figures, but actual runtime depends on use. TCL’s claim of charging to 50% in 30 minutes is based on internal testing; it is not a measured guarantee for every charger, environment or regional package.

The Colombian listing established that a retailer had catalogued the phone, not that it was available everywhere. TCL’s regional product pages and the IFA announcement establish an official product in at least some markets, but they do not confirm a uniform global release, universal launch date or single worldwide price. The original listing report said no official price had been announced at the time. Regional distributor prices, where shown, should be treated as local offers—not converted into a U.S. MSRP.
A Colombian or European listing does not confirm a U.S. launch, U.S. warranty or full U.S. carrier support. Before importing, verify the exact model’s 4G and 5G bands, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling with your carrier, Google Mobile Services, charger and plug requirements, warranty coverage, repair access and software-update policy. An FCC ID alone does not answer those questions.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if a very large reading and document screen, matte anti-glare treatment, Max Ink tools, a telephoto camera, large battery and IP68 rating matter more than a conventional OLED look.
- Compare alternatives if contrast and HDR presentation are your priority: a conventional OLED midrange phone may suit you better. Dedicated e-readers or e-ink phones put reading first but are generally less suited to video, cameras and everyday app use. TCL also lists the smaller TCL 60 NXTPAPER and TCL 60 SE NXTPAPER 5G in its regional catalog.
- Wait for local confirmation if you need a domestic warranty, a particular carrier feature, a clearly stated software-support period or a guaranteed accessory bundle.
Before buying, match the listing to the precise regional model and storage tier; confirm the weight, box contents, card-slot support, network bands, warranty and return terms. That matters more here than treating an early retailer specification sheet as a universal spec sheet.
What remains uncertain
The sources establish that the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra exists and identify its core hardware. They do not establish a universal retail price, a U.S. launch, U.S. carrier compatibility, software-support duration, a single worldwide storage configuration or an exact accessory bundle. Camera performance, battery life, display measurements and flicker behavior also require independent testing rather than inference from the specifications.
