SoundCloud does have a blue verification badge, but it is not a newly documented anti-copycat system. The badge authenticates an artist’s, label’s, DJ’s, collective’s, curator’s or podcaster’s official profile so listeners can distinguish it from fan and duplicate accounts. It does not automatically remove impersonators, protect recordings or prove who wrote or performed every track.
SoundCloud’s profile-verification notice said on August 18, 2026 that new and pending applications were temporarily paused while the process was updated. No reopening date was published in that notice. Check the official status notice before following older application instructions.
What the SoundCloud blue checkmark means
SoundCloud describes the blue badge as confirmation that a profile is authentic and belongs to the artist or entity it represents. Eligible profile types described in SoundCloud’s guidance include:

The practical benefit is recognition: when several accounts use a similar name, the badge gives listeners, promoters and industry contacts a stronger signal about which page is official. SoundCloud’s explanation is about profile authenticity, not a government-ID certification or a blanket endorsement of the account’s uploads.

A verified profile therefore does not necessarily prove that its owner created every track, owns every composition or recording, has no disputes, or is a human performer rather than an AI-assisted or AI-generated persona. The available SoundCloud materials do not establish a special blue-check policy for AI artists.

Is this a new anti-copycat feature?
There is no clearly dated SoundCloud announcement in the cited materials describing a newly launched blue-check product specifically designed to prevent copycats. SoundCloud already has a verification system, and the current first-party notice says that system is being revised.
Calling the badge an anti-copycat technology overstates what it does. It primarily provides two kinds of protection:

Removal, takedowns and account recovery are separate enforcement processes.
Are SoundCloud verification applications open?
No—not according to SoundCloud’s profile-verification notice dated August 18, 2026. New applications and pending requests were temporarily paused while SoundCloud worked on changes intended to improve the verification experience. The notice did not give a public reopening date.
Do not rely on old articles that tell you to click a “Request Verification” control unless that option is visibly available in your current account. Recheck the Help Center notice for a reopening announcement.

Who may qualify when the process returns?
SoundCloud’s public guidance describes verification as intended for a well-known or highly searched-for artist or other eligible entity. It also lists signals that help establish an authentic, complete profile:

- The account is owned by the person or organization it represents.
- The profile has a photo, biography and at least one uploaded track.
- Information is accurate and not misleading.
- The account follows SoundCloud’s terms.
- The profile shows consistent activity.
- External websites and social accounts identify the same artist or entity.
Because SoundCloud is updating the process, these are preparation signals from its published guidance, not a guaranteed future checklist or promise of approval.
How artists can prepare during the pause
- Standardize your identity: Use the same artist name, image and branding on SoundCloud, your website and social profiles.
- Complete the profile: Add a current photo, biography, header and official links.
- Maintain legitimate activity: Keep the account current with music you own or are authorized to distribute.
- Build an external footprint: Link to active social accounts, streaming pages, show listings, press or other clearly identifiable profiles.
- Remove ambiguity: Correct misleading affiliations, duplicate branding and unverifiable claims.
- Preserve evidence: Save your official profile URL, ownership records and screenshots of impersonation or unauthorized uploads.
- Monitor the Help Center: Apply only through SoundCloud’s current, official flow when applications reopen.
What the badge will not solve

A blue check can help establish which SoundCloud page is official, but it does not replace proof that you own a particular recording or composition.
Blue verification versus SoundCloud’s paid profile badge
SoundCloud also displays an orange or premium profile badge with certain paid creator subscriptions. That badge indicates account-plan status, not identity verification.

Does Artist Pro improve your chances?
No official SoundCloud source says Artist Pro guarantees or accelerates verification. Artist Pro may help an artist build a more substantial presence through unlimited uploads, distribution, monetization, advanced insights, promotion and additional mastering. Those tools can support activity and an external footprint, but buying the plan is not buying authentication.
SoundCloud’s pricing page showed these plan signals when reviewed; prices and availability can vary by territory:

Duplicate or impersonating profile
Report the account through SoundCloud’s current support or safety process. Include your legitimate profile URL, the impersonator’s URL, links to your official website and social accounts, and any identity evidence SoundCloud requests.

Unauthorized music upload
Use the copyright or rights-management reporting route. Explain whether you own the master, the composition or both, and provide supporting documentation. Verification can identify your official profile, but it does not prove ownership of a disputed track.
Compromised account
Start account recovery immediately, change the SoundCloud password and the associated email password, revoke unfamiliar connected applications, preserve evidence and contact support. Verification is not an account-security lock.
SoundCloud and Spotify are separate systems
Spotify introduced separate 2026 products called Verified by Spotify and Artist Profile Protection. Those products discuss artist identity, off-platform presence and release approval on Spotify; they are not SoundCloud features and cannot resolve a SoundCloud impersonation dispute.
Bottom line for musicians and listeners
The SoundCloud blue checkmark is real, but it is an authenticity signal for an official profile—not a copyright shield, anti-fraud guarantee or proof that every upload is original. As of August 18, 2026, SoundCloud said new and pending verification applications were paused with no public reopening date. Artists should make their identity and rights documentation clear, monitor the official Help Center and use reporting or recovery channels for impersonation, infringement and account takeovers.
