What happened?
Sheffield United made the faster start in the Steel City derby. Patrick Bamford opened the scoring in the second minute, and Harrison Burrows doubled the advantage in the 19th minute.

United’s victory confirmed Sheffield Wednesday’s relegation. The circumstances were particularly significant because contemporary coverage described it as the earliest relegation in EFL history.

Goal’s US viewing guide listed Paramount+ for viewers in the United States. That was a fixture-specific listing and should not be treated as a universal or current streaming rule.

International rights varied by territory. Sheffield Wednesday’s official preview said the match was unavailable for live overseas streaming because of broadcast agreements. Viewers should therefore have checked the rights holder in their own country rather than relying on a single worldwide streaming answer.

Seny Dieng was set to make his debut after joining Wednesday on an emergency loan from Middlesbrough. Murphy Cooper was sidelined by a groin injury.

The main difference between the cited Wednesday prediction and the confirmed XI was in the attacking line: Joel Ndala started instead of the predicted Olaf Kobacki. The rest of the reported 4-2-3-1 structure was broadly consistent with the pre-match projection. The confirmed line-ups are recorded by Sky Sports and FotMob.

Contemporary sources differed over whether this was the 134th or 137th meeting between the clubs, apparently because of different counting methods. It is safer to describe the fixture simply as the Steel City derby unless a particular historical convention is specified.
