The Samsung S95D OLED deal behind the “$1,100 off” headline was an early Black Friday promotion that began November 4, 2024—not a current offer. The discount applied to the 65-inch and 77-inch models; the 55-inch version was $700 off. As of August 2026, Samsung’s U.S. page lists the 77-inch S95D at $4,599.99 but shows delivery and pickup unavailable.
What the S95D Black Friday prices were
The U.S. promotion listed these prices by screen size:

Those are the advertised U.S. prices reported for the November 4, 2024 sale. Taxes, delivery, installation, warranties, and any retailer-specific fees could change a shopper’s final total. The original coverage called the 65- and 77-inch prices record lows, but it did not establish an all-retailer, all-time low across every coupon, membership offer, open-box unit, or regional promotion. It is safest to call them prices advertised as record lows at the time, not independently verified market-wide records. The original deal report has the historical price details.

Why the S95D stood out
The S95D was Samsung’s 2024 flagship 4K OLED, built around a quantum-dot OLED panel. Its self-lit pixels deliver deep blacks in a dark room, while quantum-dot color helps produce vivid, saturated HDR. The set also has wide viewing angles, making it useful when people watch from seats away from the center.

Its most distinctive feature is Samsung’s matte “OLED Glare Free” screen treatment, intended to reduce distracting reflections from windows and lamps. That can make the S95D a compelling OLED for a room where a glossy screen would mirror a direct light source. But glare reduction and black-level preservation are not the same thing: RTINGS’ testing notes that ambient light can raise the apparent black level and make dark scenes look washed out. “Glare Free” does not mean blacks remain unaffected in every bright room.
For gaming, Samsung specified refresh rates up to 144Hz, with variable refresh rate and low-latency features. That maximum is most relevant to a compatible gaming PC and connection path; consoles generally top out at lower refresh rates. The television runs Samsung’s Tizen smart-TV platform and includes a Slim One Connect Box that gathers inputs in a separate unit. The box can simplify cable routing and wall installation, but buyers need somewhere to place it and a route for its dedicated cable. The trade-offs behind the discount
- No Dolby Vision: The S95D supports HDR10 and HDR10+, but not Dolby Vision. That matters to households with Dolby Vision-heavy movie libraries or streaming habits; compare LG or Sony models if that format is a priority.
- Motion has caveats: OLED’s very fast pixel response can make lower-frame-rate films look stuttery. Tom’s Guide also flagged motion-processing blur and artifacts, as well as some overprocessing, in its S95D review.
- Matte-screen behavior is a preference: It suppresses direct reflections, but some viewers may prefer a glossy OLED’s presentation, especially in a controlled dark room. In brighter conditions, the S95D’s black level can rise even as reflections become less distracting.
- One Connect adds hardware: The external box and cable help with a tidy installation, but add components and a potential point of failure. Check your mount, cabinet, cable path, and ventilation plan before buying.
- It is an older generation: The S95D is a 2024 model. In 2026, compare any remaining-stock price with current OLEDs rather than judging it only against its original list price. A large MSRP reduction is not necessarily a bargain if newer televisions are close in price.
Like other OLED televisions, the S95D is worth treating sensibly around long-running static images such as channel logos or a desktop interface. That is a general panel-use consideration, not evidence that ordinary mixed viewing will cause a failure.

At $2,299.99 for 65 inches or $3,499.99 for 77 inches, the promotion was especially relevant to buyers who wanted OLED contrast and colorful HDR, had direct reflections to manage, or planned to use a compatible PC for high-refresh-rate gaming. The wide viewing angle also suited a living room where viewers sit across a broad area.

It was less compelling for a buyer who needs Dolby Vision, prioritizes the newest panel and processing, dislikes matte-screen image characteristics, or wants to avoid the One Connect Box. If you are shopping now, compare the S95D with newer Samsung S95F and S90F models and relevant LG OLEDs. RTINGS describes the S95F as a noticeable improvement over the S95D, particularly in brightness and anti-glare performance, and the S90F as similar overall with differences including reflection handling and One Connect inclusion. LG alternatives may suit Dolby Vision-focused households; the right choice depends on room lighting, formats, and current prices.
Is the deal still available?
No: the $1,100 reductions above refer to a 2024 Black Friday promotion. Samsung’s U.S. 77-inch S95D page was listed at $4,599.99 in the August 18, 2026 snapshot, with delivery and pickup unavailable and a “Notify me” status. That listing does not confirm an active discount or available stock. Check any marketplace or retailer listing carefully for the exact model and size, whether it is new, open-box, or refurbished, who sells it, and the return policy and warranty. The U.S. reviewed model codes are QN55S95DAFXZA, QN65S95DAFXZA, and QN77S95DAFXZA; other regions may use different suffixes and specifications. Samsung’s 77-inch product page is the reference for its current listing status.

Verdict
The historical sale was a substantial advertised discount on a premium OLED, but “$1,100 off” applied only to the 65- and 77-inch versions, not the 55-inch model. The S95D’s combination of QD-OLED color, gaming features, and unusually strong direct-reflection handling made it attractive for the right room and buyer. Its lack of Dolby Vision, matte-screen black-level behavior in ambient light, motion caveats, and external connection box remain real trade-offs. In 2026, treat the deal as expired and evaluate any remaining S95D inventory against newer models and actual street prices—not MSRP alone.
