Samsung began the global One UI 7 rollout on April 7, 2025. In the United States, the Galaxy S24 series was scheduled to start receiving it on April 10. Those were rollout start dates—not a promise that every Galaxy S phone would get the update on the same day. Samsung released it in stages, with timing varying by country, carrier and model.
As of August 18, 2026, One UI 7 is a completed, historical rollout rather than an upcoming update; Samsung has since moved on to One UI 8. Here is what Samsung confirmed, which Galaxy S models were included and why availability differed.
What dates did Samsung confirm?
Samsung announced the rollout on March 18, 2025. Its global announcement said distribution would begin April 7, starting with the Galaxy S24 series and selected recent foldables. Samsung Electronics America named April 10 as the U.S. start for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. Samsung’s global announcement and its U.S. announcement both describe a rollout, not a simultaneous release to every device.
That distinction matters: the announcement date was March 18; April 7 was the global rollout start; April 10 was the U.S. first-wave start for the S24 family. The day an update became available to a particular phone could be later, depending on its country, carrier and firmware variant. For example, Samsung’s update record for one U.S. Galaxy S24 model lists an April 22, 2025 release date. Which Galaxy S phones were included?
Samsung’s U.S. support list identifies these Galaxy S devices as released with or expected to receive One UI 7. The S25 family launched with One UI 7; the older models received it as a software upgrade. Samsung’s compatibility page is the source for this list.
- Galaxy S25: S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra, as well as S25 Edge. These phones launched with One UI 7 rather than waiting for the upgrade rollout.
- Galaxy S24: S24, S24+, S24 Ultra and S24 FE.
- Galaxy S23: S23, S23+, S23 Ultra and S23 FE.
- Galaxy S22: S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra.
- Galaxy S21: S21, S21+, S21 Ultra and S21 FE.
Eligibility does not mean every device received the update at once, nor that every One UI 7 feature was available on every model. Samsung’s U.S. list is a U.S. compatibility reference; it is not a universal schedule for every country or carrier. Samsung’s update record confirms a One UI 7.0/Android 15 upgrade entry for the U.S. unlocked Galaxy S21 model SM-G991U1, but other variants could follow different schedules. When did older Galaxy S models get it?
Samsung said the rollout would expand to additional Galaxy devices in the following weeks, including the S23 series and S23 FE. Its main announcement did not give one worldwide release date for every S21, S22 or S23 model.
Regional schedules offer examples, not dates that can be applied everywhere. Samsung Germany’s schedule placed the S24 Ultra in April 2025 and the S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra in May. Samsung’s Caribbean schedule showed separate unlocked and carrier dates, including June 25, 2025 for several S21 FE, S21, S22, S23 and S24 variants in that market. Why could the update arrive later on your phone?
- Country and regional firmware: A phone bought abroad may follow the update schedule for its original market, even when used elsewhere.
- Carrier approval: Carrier-branded phones may need carrier validation, and carriers can release updates at different times.
- Model variant: A shared phone name can cover different model numbers and firmware builds, each with its own release timing.
- Unlocked versus carrier model: These versions may not receive the same build on the same day.
- Rollout pauses: A software release can be delayed or paused for a particular build. A dated Samsung Members calendar is still specific to its region and can change; unofficial screenshots should not be treated as a global promise.
“Rollout starts” can mean Samsung has begun publishing firmware in an initial market. It does not necessarily mean a carrier has approved it, that every eligible variant can see it, or that installation has finished on a particular phone.
How to check for One UI 7
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update.
- Tap Download and install.
- If an update is offered, follow the on-screen instructions. Keep the phone on Wi-Fi and sufficiently charged; back up important data before a major software installation.
If no update appears, check again later and verify your exact model number, country or original sales region, and carrier status. Make sure the phone has enough available storage. A repaired device or one flashed with nonstandard firmware may not follow the normal update path. Menu wording can vary slightly by device and software version. If Samsung lists your exact model as eligible but it still has no update, contact Samsung support or your carrier to check the firmware status.

What changed in One UI 7?
One UI 7 is Samsung’s Android 15-based software update. It introduced a redesigned interface, refreshed home-screen widgets and lock-screen customization, a new Now Bar experience, and changes to notifications and quick settings. Samsung also highlighted AI-assisted features and additional personalization and controls. Samsung’s feature overview describes the update.

A phone’s eligibility for One UI 7 is not a guarantee of feature parity with a newer S-series device.

One UI 7 is no longer the current release
For anyone checking now, the 2025 dates explain the original rollout; they are not a reason to keep waiting for One UI 7. Samsung’s support page identifies One UI 8 as the newer update. Check Settings → Software update → Download and install for the software currently offered to your specific phone.
