Samsung did not proceed with a broad public One UI 3.5 rollout. The version was widely expected in 2021, but Samsung’s 2021 foldables launched with One UI 3.1.1, and existing devices received some improvements through firmware that could still show One UI 3.1. There is no current One UI 3.5 rollout to track; this is a historical correction to the old update-list question.
What Samsung actually announced for Android 11
Samsung’s official Android 11-era software announcement was for One UI 3, not a general One UI 3.5 program. The initial rollout began with the Galaxy S20 series in Korea, the United States and most European markets, with other Galaxy devices following. Samsung said availability and timing could vary by model and market. Its U.S. announcement said Galaxy A devices were scheduled for the first half of 2021, but that schedule was not a guarantee for every model or region.
That distinction matters: an official Samsung rollout announcement or a firmware record for a specific model is stronger evidence than a forecasted eligibility list. Android version, One UI version and firmware build are separate details, too; an Android 11 update does not automatically mean a phone received One UI 3.5.

Why people expected One UI 3.5
During 2021, community posts and update trackers speculated that One UI 3.5 would be an incremental Android 11-based successor to One UI 3.0 and 3.1. Some lists appeared on Samsung community sites, but they were predictions based on expectations and technical assumptions, not Samsung’s confirmed rollout schedule. The lists varied and sometimes named devices that had not yet launched when the predictions were written.

Contemporary reporting later identified the software on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 as One UI 3.1.1, rather than One UI 3.5. Reporting also indicated that Samsung did not plan a universal One UI 3.1.1 version-number update for existing phones; selected improvements could arrive in firmware while a device continued to report One UI 3.1. Samsung’s next major interface generation was One UI 4, based on Android 12.
The careful conclusion is not that the “3.5” label could never appear in any internal or informal reference. It is that Samsung did not establish a broad public One UI 3.5 rollout under that name. Search results or screenshots using the label do not, by themselves, prove an official update for a particular phone.

These lists are useful as a record of the 2021 expectation, not as a way to determine what software a device ultimately received. A phone might receive a feature in a later firmware update without the One UI version number changing; that does not mean every device received the same feature set.
How to check what your Galaxy actually received
- Open Settings.
- Tap Software update, then Download and install. Menu wording can vary slightly with model and software version.
- If an update is offered, review its Android version, One UI version, security patch level and build details before installing.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi connection and make sure the device has sufficient battery. Back up important data as a sensible precaution.
- After installation, check Settings → About phone → Software information to confirm the installed Android version, One UI version and build number.
For a historical release or a model-specific check, Samsung’s firmware pages provide a more useful record than a generic predicted list. For example, Samsung has update pages for the Galaxy S10e SM-G970F and Galaxy S10 SM-G973F. Match the exact model and region: a page for one variant does not confirm the same release for another.
Why a phone may not show an update
- Different model or region: Similar retail names can have different model numbers and firmware schedules.
- Carrier timing: Carrier-branded devices, particularly in the United States, may wait for carrier approval; unlocked and carrier versions may update at different times.
- Staged rollout or pause: Updates can reach users in waves, and a temporary delay does not alone prove that Samsung cancelled support.
- It was only forecast: A device on a community prediction list was not thereby promised One UI 3.5.
- Features arrived under another label: Some improvements could be included in One UI 3.1 firmware without a version-number change.
- Software or device mismatch: Modified firmware, root access or a mismatched CSC/region can affect normal update delivery.
- Storage or connection issue: Insufficient free space or a temporary network/server problem can interrupt checking or installation.
Samsung cautioned that One UI 3 availability and timing varied by model and market in its U.S. rollout announcement. A missing update notification is not enough to conclude that a specific device was unsupported or that an update was stopped.

Should you install firmware manually?
For most owners, use the normal Software update screen or Samsung support rather than manually flashing firmware. If you are troubleshooting an old device, first identify its exact model number and CSC/region, then consult the matching Samsung firmware information. Back up your data before any recovery or installation attempt.

Tracker status
This tracker is closed as a live One UI 3.5 rollout: the anticipated broad release was superseded by One UI 3.1.1 on Samsung’s 2021 foldables and by device-specific One UI 3.1-era updates for existing models. For a Galaxy device today, verify its installed software and available updates against its exact Samsung model and regional firmware record rather than relying on the old One UI 3.5 forecast lists.

Did Samsung release One UI 3.5?

Is One UI 3.1.1 the same as One UI 3.5?
No. One UI 3.1.1 was the public version associated with the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3. Similar or later features on another device do not establish that it received One UI 3.5.
Why does my Galaxy still say One UI 3.1?
A firmware update could deliver selected improvements while retaining the One UI 3.1 version label. Check Software information and the firmware record for your exact model and region.

Can I install the update manually?
Use Samsung’s normal update channel where possible. Manual flashing carries risks, including data loss, failed installation and Knox-related or support consequences; never flash firmware for a different model or region.
Does a security patch mean I received the new One UI?
No. A security patch level and a One UI version are separate software details. Check the Android version, One UI version and build number in Software information.
